You ate what?! A test to see if I qualify as a foodie….

I got this idea from Lissete and thought it was a fun tag to do to see how food worldly I really am coming from Asia. So here goes:

1. Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2. Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3. Cross out any items that you would never consider eating

  1. Venison – don’t really like it.
  2. Nettle tea
  3. Hueves rancheros – what is that?!
  4. Steak tartare – No thank you
  5. Crocodile – I’ve been told it’s good for asthma…
  6. Black Pudding – I had to Google this 🙂 and decided not! As much as I love pork!
  7.  Cheese Fondue – Love it! Love it! Love it! We used to get this Swiss brand of cheese from Italy when I was in London and heated it in the rice cooker with fresh French loaf. Now, we just go to the Chalet at the Equatorial Hotel.
  8. Carp – Love most fish actually
  9. Borscht – I guess I could try it. Borscht is an Eastern European stew kind of soup. I’ve probably tried it before when I was in Poland and not known what it was.
  10. Baba Ghanoush – I love anything egg plant! And yes, I’ve eaten this a few times….
  11. Calamari – Despite the cholesterol, quite yummy!
  12. Pho – As in Vietnamese Beef Noodles? Yes, I like.
  13. PB & J Sandwich – Peanut Butter and Jelly….say so! All the time. Uh-oh. Now that I know that ONE peanut butter and jelly sandwich with white bread and butter is more than 400 calories, perhaps no more for me. Yikes!
  14. Aloo Ghobi – I love most Indian food. Aloo Ghobi is cauliflower and potatoes, if you didn’t know.
  15. Hot Dog from a Street Cart – THE BEST!
  16. Epoisses – I’m not very adventurous when it comes to cheeses….
  17. Black Truffle – I googled it and it sounds gross but I’m sure I’ve eaten it in chocolates. Right?
  18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes – I’ve had cherry wine before. Nice.
  19. Steamed Pork Buns – Char Siu Pau?? Yummmm……
  20. Pistachio ice cream – I like pistachio, ice cream or in any other form
  21. Heirloom tomatoes – Err….I’m quite a tomato fan so since I’ve had tomatoes in several continents, I’lltake a guess and proclaim I’ve eaten them 🙂
  22. Fresh wild berries – never dared touch them but my Swedish friend swears that I’m to try them out at her backyard when I finally make that visit to Sweden!
  23. Foie Gras – Love it
  24. Rice and Beans – when desperate
  25. Brawn, souse or head cheese – Ewe!
  26. Dulce de leche – I used to MAKE this!!!
  27. Raw Scotch and Bonnet Pepper – this is supposed to be one of the hottest chillis known to mankind and I’ve had the privilege of tasting it! You all know how much I LOVE chillis….in fact, I’m doing a little experiment right now, planting it in a pot. The plant’s growing but no sign of orange peppers yet!
  28. Oysters – only when fresh…
  29. Baklava – Enjoy it due to it’s nutty sweetness.
  30. Wasabi Peas – Also nice…very addictive.
  31. Bagna Cauda – I must say, I am yet to try this….or maybe I have and not known it?
  32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl – Not a fan.
  33. Salted Lassi – Nope, don’t take yogurt.
  34. Sauerkraut – Didn’t like it…
  35. Root Beer Float – My absolute favourite. Very fattening.
  36. Cognac with a fat cigar – Don’t do cigars.
  37. Clotted cream Tea – YUM….
  38. Vodka Jelly / Jell-O – YUM….
  39. Gumbo – Not a fan.
  40. Oxtail – Not a fan.
  41. Curried Goat – Anything Indian is good.
  42. Whole Insects – OK. This is where I draw the line.
  43. Phaal – Yes, yes, yes!!!
  44. Goat’s Milk – NO WAY.
  45. Malt Whisky from a bottle worth USD$120or more – I don’t drink whisky.
  46. Fugu – I don’t think I’ve tried this…..must look out for it at Japanese restaurants.
  47. Chicken Tikka Masala – ABsolutely….anything Indian, remember?
  48. Eel – It used to be my favourite at Jap restaurants but not anymore.
  49. Krispy Kreme Original doughnut – I haven’t tried this yet but they are now newly in town brought in by the same people who brought in Starbucks and originally McDonalds.
  50. Sea Urchin -Haven’t tried these but LOVE sea cucumbers!
  51. Prickly Pear – Haven’t tried this
  52. Umeboshi – This is essentially our sour khana. Not a fan.
  53. Abalone – I love abalone. If only I could afford to eat it everyday….
  54. Paneer – Palak Paneer yes!
  55. McDonald’s Big Mac Meal – A million gazillion times, unfortunately.
  56. Spaetzle – Hmm….German pasta? Possibly tried.
  57. Dirty Gin martini – I can’t say I’ve tried this but I look forward to it!
  58. Beer above 8% ABV – No, I absolutely don’t drink beer.
  59. Poutine – Curd cheese? No thank you.
  60. Carob Chips – ???
  61. S’Mores – Haven’t had this but guess what? I am MAKING it tomorrow!!!
  62. Sweetbreads  – All the time….
  63. Kaolin – You can eat this? I thought it was for face masks!
  64. Currywurst – Undecided
  65. Durian – My vice that makes me fall ill all the time
  66. Frog’s Legs – Hate to admit it but yes, have tried it. Tasted like chicken. SOrt of.
  67. Beignets, churros, elephants ears or funnel cake – It’s OK.
  68. Haggis – Nuh-uh
  69. Fried plantain – It’s OK.
  70. Chitterlings or andouilette – Sounds gross.
  71. Gazpacho -Blended salad? Hmm…..
  72. Caviar and blini – Love caviar. I have expensive taste. And I’ll eat pancakes of any sort.
  73. Louche absinthe – I might have tried this in London….but I’m not entirely sure.
  74. Gjetost, or brunost – Definitely not a cheese fan.
  75. Roadkill – No. No. No. No.
  76. Baijiu – all the time in Chinese cooking!
  77. Hostess Fruit Pie – Don’t have this here!
  78. Snail – Used to like it. Now the thought makes me queasy.
  79. Bellini – Sounds yum….
  80. Tom – Cruise? Wouldn’t mind trying….
  81. Eggs Benedict -Not a fan.
  82. Pocky – Not a fan.
  83. Tasting a menu at a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant – ?? At the many restaurants I’ve dined in London, one of them must’ve made it to 3 Stars, right?
  84. Kobe Beef – Lovely if it’s really good quality.
  85. Hare – Poor bunny!
  86. Goulash – Hungarian?
  87. Flowers not even the ones made out of frosting – Yes, I ate flowers when I was 12. Just experimenting…..
  88. Horse – Poor horse!
  89. Criollo Chocolate – SOmebody get me some, please!!
  90. Spam – As in luncheon meat? Eat it with sandwiches.
  91. Soft Shell Crab – It’s OK.
  92. Rose Harissa – SOunds spicy, worth a try…
  93. Catfish – It’s OK.
  94. Mole Poblano – This sounds weird. Chocolate sauce and rice? OK, I might try it, just for the chocolate it.
  95. Bagel and lox – Don’t mind it. (that’s bagel with salmon)
  96. Lobster Thermidor – It’s OK.
  97. Polenta – It’s OK.
  98. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee – Good.
  99. Snake – No way.
