The Hubs and I have heated arguments over sending T2 to school. He feels she is still too young, or really too tiny, to attend school. I’m telling him that despite her size, she’d be ruling the classroom! He prefers the British Nanny to coach her for now as she seems to pick up so much from her and best of all, they have crazy fun together!
But she doesn’t get to meet other little tots thus has the social skills of a drunken prawn.
I’ve been bringing her every so often to Uncle Ben’s old kindergarten. It’s the largest pre-school in KL, also the oldest. It’s now managed by a group of modern women who are running with the current times of early childhood education. I love the space and the fresh air, T2 loves the bus.
The space is spread over a few acres that they can afford to have big, airy classrooms, several playgrounds for each age group, paddle pools and sandpits, LOTS of facilities……….it’s just fantastic! But it’s a bit old…..after all, how old is Uncle Ben today?
I bring T2 back over and over because she keeps saying she wants to go to the school that has the bus. It really is a mini caravan with kitchen and living room inside – cool or what?
So we go to visit and enquire and she gets to play her bus.
Getting her to leave is always a battle.
What shall I do – send her to a school that she wants? OR send her to a school that I want? OR send her to a school that the Hubs and T1 wants??? Decisions – decisions.
If I didn’t have a full time job, I’d just delay her school life but because I work, I need to kick her out of the house as early as possible (like yesterday!) but the Hubs won’t allow it. Grrrr……
More sparring sessions to come!

i dont think its a bad idea to put t2 to school. just a few hours a day, she can get to learn some stuff, socialised and u..can get some work done. i m sure children at 2, 3, 4 ….90% learn the same stuff whether in a local or international school 😉
ps..i love the greens in this school n the large compound to play hide n seek.
Wow, that’s a lovely pre-school. Love the space!
For me, pre-school selection was relatively easy – must be convenient.
The one I finally chose even have teachers on standby when cars arrive in the morning, so I don’t have to move my (pj-clad) ass out of the car 😉 he he.
You know what? You sound like my Hubby while your Hubby sounds like me – I’m the one reluctant to send our girl to the kindy coz I think she’s a bit too tiny although she is a cili padi.
If I could choose, I would send her to this kindy – I think it’s great. It’s won me over with its space, play equipment and the modern curriculum – what else does a preschooler need?
Like how Adrine thinks, I send my girls to a pre school that is the most convenient to me! Coz my time is very very limited, and I want the nearest pre school, which of course must also have a good syllabus, to prepare her for real school.
