I’m sure we’ve all been there and if you haven’t, well lucky you!

In my 40 years, I have met and dealt with more than 10,000 people and for whatever it’s worth, I’d like to think I am quite experienced when it comes to sussing them out. I can more often than not assess when someone is genuine, when someone is out to get you, when someone is lonely, when someone is truly happy, when someone is selfish, etc etc etc. Having people skills as in knowing how to be tactful when necessary, knowing when to say the right things, being gracious……are all skills I have too. Except that I don’t necessarily put them into practice all the time  -_-

But today, I want to talk about toxic people. Once upon a time, I used to be like my Mother, who always had to have the last say in ANYTHING. This, of course, got me into too much trouble, especially with her. After many years of disagreements with my Mother, whom I always felt I was never good enough for, I finally learnt from my brother and ‘sister’, both younger than me, to just shut up. Whether you’re wrong or not, whether she makes any sense or not, just shut up. And those days, I used to say, “But, BUT…..!!!”

And they shook their heads. No buts. Just shut up.

This, however, has nothing to do with toxic people. It only has to do with people who need to have the last say. Kiasu? And what do I see in T1 now? She ALWAYS has to have the last say!!! Frigging genetic, I’m telling you.

But coming back to toxic people……..

Toxic people are selfish, insecure people who always need to make themselves feel better than you. There’s nothing more a toxic person likes than to get their way, prove they’re right and cause you to feel like shit; their main aim in life. Toxic people like to blame, manipulate, smear your bad name and generally are negative in nature; and they like to bring you down. But more than that, they love pulling you into their circle of futile debate. They say things so you would bite and they keep knowing what to say to make you bite more but really, if you were smart, you just won’t play with a toxic person. It is the only way to win. And, oh my God, did I tell you how much a toxic person complains??? They complain about everything under the Universe! Nothing is ever good enough and it is always somebody else’s fault!

A toxic person would do anything to cause trouble and it could be the lousiest of lies to bring you down that will infuriate you to no end yet, don’t play with the toxic person. Because if you are really honest and sincere about who you are, people will see through you and people will eventually see through that toxic person! Sometimes, the toxic person follows you around because it thinks it can feed off you and sometimes, dumb people have poor judgement; but really, is it your loss? If you ignored the toxic person long enough, hopefully it would drop off from starvation and who wants to befriend dumb followers?

One of the greatest rewards in a happy life is to free yourself from toxic people (it only takes ONE), and you will see how easy life becomes. Be strong. Just DROP them.

So whenever you find yourself being drawn into a toxic debate with a toxic person, simply change the subject, walk away and LEAVE IT FOREVER. Shoo!!! Leave us alone!!!
