My little monkey woke up at exactly 2.03am. I was out here in the study when I heard a wail.

“WAHhhhhh……I want Mummy….!!!”

Bugger.

Wasted a good ten minutes putting her back to sleep and she HAD to sniff my hand. Other toddlers have a binky, a smelly pillow, a favourite soft toy, a fantasy object. My daughter has my hand. What is it with the smell of something that comforts a baby?

I just don’t get it.

I asked her if she could just hold my hand and sleep without putting it at her face.

She said, “NO! I have to smell it!”
