The Hubs and I have been married for 6 years. Known each other for 10. Our wedding anniversaries, like birthdays and Valentines Day et al, are really no big deal. If we’re up to the mood, we’ll do something. If we’re not, we won’t. We belong to the camp of performing nice gestures as and when our heart desires, and not when society beckons. So I was really gobsmacked when I got this huge diamond ring today.
I was sat on the pooper when little Tee stumbled in with this, “Mummy!!! Look!!! I have a diamond ring for you!!!”

It was large enough to fit round her waist as a hoola-hoop and when I took it from her, it weighed more than I expected a paper diamond ring to weigh! At first, I thought the Hubs and Tee were busy having fun making it as one of their art projects (they make all sorts of things, those two – dragons, puppets, swords, trains, you name it – if Tee wants it, they’ll make it), but I suddenly realised it was also our wedding anniversary. Gosh! I’d forgotten! I’d remembered it the day before then forgotten again. *sigh*
Wondering what the weight was, I took a peek and when I realised there was indeed something in it, I ripped the poor diamond ring apart, like a hungry tiger who’d gnawing its prey. And screamed.
What was inside? This!!!
So why am I getting orgasms over a brand new phone, you may ask?
Because.
For the last 3 years, I have had this cheap, beat up phone that I have dropped more than 50 times and resembles a smashed pumpkin. Seriously. It doesn’t look like a phone anymore. Whenever I use it in public, I discreetly walk away from human traffic, to use it in private. Just so I won’t get strange glares, or worst, people thinking I was some…..some……I don’t know. I mean, what would you think of someone who looked like they were stuffing smashed pumpkin into their left ear?
“I thought you said we had no money! Where did you get money to buy this???”
He just smiled and said he had been saving a long time for it. Then he apologised for the bad timing.

Aawww… how sweet of your hubs…. and he took the trouble to make that huge paper ring, how thoughtful and ‘lor mun’ of him.
I know….I was touched that he actually remembered the date coming up and had to keep the secret from me for a whole week after he bought the phone. What is ‘lor min’? My cantonese is quite crap.
Romantic and very creative. 🙂
Yeah….he can be, when he wants to be. *wink*
lor mun = romantic in cantonese, hehe….
Learn something new everyday! Today, Tee taught me 5 colours in Mandarin.
