It is believed that I am an amazing Mother. Why? Because everything that I continue to learn in my life, I continue teaching my kids. It gives them a strong head start in life just like when I was a kid learning everything my late Mom and Aunt experienced even before I got to experience them myself. If you want to be successful in life, you need to experience these obstacles before God allows you to be ready for it.
My kids, they’re far from perfect, but when put in a tub with 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000 other kids, they come out with pretty high scores. This isn’t about academics although they fare pretty well in that department. Today at a birthday party of around 50 kids, my daughter was the top girl in the entire year, for example. She works hard so totally deserves the acknowledgment. The smaller one is scoring more B’s than A’s but that’s ok. She’s a lazy bum for now and only nine.
It is about being well rounded HAPPY kids who have high self esteem and are brave enough to speak their minds, yet well mannered enough to know when to be silent.
I’m not here to boast about my kids. They’re not perfect kids but I am more than happy with their progress and development and welcome anyone giving me dirt on them. Criticise them. Criticise me. We are tired as a family of hearing how amazing we are. It’s getting boring.

What is an SOS Code?
An SOS Code is a signal for something urgent.
In life, we all have ups and downs, agreements and disagreements, correct? And they all happen in varying degrees that evoke various heights of emotions be it positive or negative and everything in between. We live in harmony as humans because we tolerate each other and when anyone gets out of line, the relationship either ends or continues strained until someone gives in or a mutual understanding is reached.
In my family, we don’t allow warm temperatures. If cold was I hate you and hot was I blinking love you to death, then we are summer at the Sahara Desert. Sizzling hot. If any of us have a dispute that brings us out of sizzling hot zone, we call for an SOS. This means things are getting serious and intervention is required. By having such powerfully strong relationships between us, we are able to maintain our strong bonds extremely tight. I am sure many families do this too.
But today, I decided to test this formula on my friends.
I have never been a friendship person because of very bad experiences with friendships throughout my life. I’m very happy to have zero friends with everyone at arms length. Really. I can list out all the bitches who’ve crossed my line from pure jealousy and stupidity from the past and get this, they all want to come back into my life now.
But some friends, especially those who’ve passed my 7 year itch test, I am just so drawn to because they seem so genuine and actually open up to share as well. Friendship works both ways. One girl, she treats me like a Queen but she never shares anything about herself. Agenda alert! And then another loved me so much once upon a time, then disappeared silently without a trace but whenever I asked her if she was OK, she had excuses of being busy. Wake up, I wasn’t born yesterday. Another didn’t contact me for over a year and suddenly spread rumours that I didn’t want to see her anymore. It’s wild how these crazy bitches manipulate truth to fulfil their own agendas. I could list out a dozen more stories but let’s get back to the SOS Code.
Whilst in pain today, and not just today but several other times in the past, there’s this bunch of girls whom I really love. I gave them the SOS Code. Everybody wants to be my best friend and I am and can be everybody’s best friend; but there are only a handful who have my SOS Code. There are only a handful of people who’d drop anything and everything to be by my side when I call out the SOS Code.
I’m starting to feel safe again as I approach the soon to be grandma kind of age. It’s a nice feeling. Thank Heavens for Netflix, essential oils, and a solid brain tumour to make me live my best life better than ever before. The gratitude within me is astounding.
When I am back from my beach holiday, I am going to feed a hundred people of the poor.
