The problem with going on holidays….

…..is that I always, always, ALWAYS need another holiday after a holiday!!! And I’m sure many of you feel the same way, especially if you have kids! Thus some people are actually very smart when they decide on not traveling with all their kids till such time. They KNOW it is a blinking nightmare, as though having them at home isn’t already bad enough, we want to cart them half way across the globe with us just to……have some fun? Hell, I can think of many ways we can have fun here at home without that plane ride. Seriously.

Soon, I will look forward to 1000 plus emails waiting in my inbox. At least only 5% of them need an immediate response. But still, that’s frigging 50 emails to respond to. I guess it’s still better than those days in the office when emails were my work life! But I didn’t have kids then.

I have several assignments that are due *yawn*. So much work to complete. Smses to respond to. Bags to unpack. Laundry. Groceries. Cleaning. More cleaning. What about the dead plants? Is it even worth it going on holiday?*GROAN*

Absolutely. For the love of our kids. T1 and T2 learned a helluva lot during this trip. Probably much more than they’d have learned in school a whole semester. It is nothing like real life traveling to open the eyes of a kid. But the pain in doing that, oh, the pain…..the Hubs and I are down with a nasty flu. We have pounding heads and body aches like they’ve been beaten by the Malaysian police, and have been barely functional pill popping paracetamols. Soon we’d be drug addicts. I can see why people resort to drugs now. All the pain is removed!! OK, sick joke.

Oh, whilst we’re talking about my Perth trip, do you know how some people like to judge?

You and I both know that the Hubs is out of a job, right? That means, we really need to save money because we do not know where our next income is coming from, yes? And seriously, if the Hubs doesn’t get a job or get something going soon, T1 will have to be pulled out of school at some point (can you imagine what that would do to her self-esteem?) because there are FEES to be paid at her school. So what the hell are we doing jet-setting to Perth? Well, it’s not like I have to ever justify my actions with anyone but this trip was booked a year ago, all paid for. So it was either we wasted it or went for it. And since it was all paid for, what would you have done? We incurred very little costs as my lovely Ozzie cousins and everyone we met (quite frankly!) fed us non-stop and transported us everywhere we needed to go. We didn’t do any shopping and we had the best time ever (although secretly, I wished and wished I had more money to shop, who am I kidding….). Seriously, this was the best trip we’d made to Perth, after being there a few times. We saw more things, more places, met more people and are now considering a move. And I’ll tell you why we want to move later.

  1. Don’t bother what some ppl say. They like to be busybodies without knowing the real situation………as long as u enjoy yrselves…..=)

  2. Get well soon! And I totally get what u mean about needing a break after a holiday, all the tons of stuff and mountain loads of laundry to catch up on!

But I’m really happy for you that your trip worked out wonderfully, that’s the best part to enjoy yourselves, and like a bonus treat, getting to spend time with friends and loved ones you don’t get to see so often!

Hope your husband will find employment again real soon, so it’s one thing less on your mind.

P.S. Thanks for dropping by, this is not my first time here but i’m not sure if my previous comments rolled out at all. No worries. I’m glad to “see” you here, always nice to meet another blogger, and in some ways i can relate to how different life is as an at-home mom (i was working on the same PR job in S’pore for a decade, before becoming a housewife here in the States). and oh, my youngest still refused to be weaned off, so i get the boob addiction.

  3. hor…who dare to ask such preposterous question??? geeggege…glad you all had a fun holiday. Better enjoy it while it lasts ok cos once you’re back into employment, you won’t have much time anymore.

  4. ppl will judge based only on what they know and most often.. they don’t know enough !
