This last week, Tee has been moving about with a small scrunched up piece of paper. It is all scrunched up like you would when you aim a piece of paper into the bin, except her paper is sacred. I’ve seen her carrying it into the car, she holds it to sleep and even has it when she is in the toilet.

I asked her what it was this evening when I opened it up. This is what met me.

Apparently this is Mommy. She carries it with her everywhere so that when she misses Mommy, then she just has to open up her ball and she can see Mommy.

I asked her what happened to the wallet photo Mommy had given her in case she missed Mommy? She said she preferred this drawing of Mommy because she could squash it to any shape and carry it anywhere. She also didn’t want to ruin a real photograph. Then she added that the piece of paper also contained Mommy’s chop. Huh?

So I put my eyes into zoom focus and caught that she had used our home address stamp at the bottom of my face.

My heart felt so heavy with love after that. And a tear trickled.

I’m a sentimental old fart, I am.
