Teaching T1 to have pen pals abroad

When I was a little girl, I had loads of pen pals I would write to, whether through friends of friends or from that famous Big Blue Marble show. Remember that? I used to love that show! I remember having this Italian pen pal from Melbourne who thought I was so exotic and gorgeous *laugh out loud*. He wasn’t so hot himself….and then there was this Australian chick from Perth who was crazy wild even though we were only 15 then. There was also a lovely, lovely girl from Pensylvania and that really interesting farm boy from Hartlepool. You seriously learn a lot from having foreign pen pals!

And guess what people? I have kept every single letter I have ever received since I was 12 years old all up in that big white box stored in one of those high up cupboards. I am so going to have so much fun one day when the kids are much older and I have some time on my hands going through them. It would be so hilarious. And surely, my grandchildren would learn from them.

Ever since T1 knew how to write and spell, I have been encouraging her to stay in touch with friends abroad. It is a fabulous feeling for a kid whenever they receive mail directed to them. Really! They can start a stamp collection, they can start a box full of cherished letters, they get new memories from each letter received, and they are forced to write! Not type…..

So if you’re interested in your kid starting a hobby of having some pen pals for kids, then hop on to Buddy Notes where they have a great program that will guarantee lots of fun for kids.  They have little fun activities that you could send to your own kid or to other kids and you know what the greatest thing is about this is for us moms? We don’t have to write. We don’t have to think. We just order and post. And Buddy Post will arrange the mail for kids right away in order to bring on that happy smile. Go on. Give them a try and tell me if you didn’t put a happy smile on that kids face?
