T1 – my spunky little girl will turn seven in a few months. Wow! She has grown!!! 115cm and 23kg!!
My girl, she is so attached to me, her Mama, because I raised her single-handedly since birth and ever since I got pregnant with T2, T1’s had to grow up overnight. But, oh well, it was time to grow up anyway……..
SHE IS SEVEN THIS YEAR!!!
She has an amazingly kind heart. I’ve always taught T1 to protect her friends who are weaker, or who get bullied in any way, to always be a leader and speak up on their behalf if they are unable to; and I’m proud to say that she has put this into practice on several occasions. There is this girl in class whom nobody has ever invited to any party and T1 said that this year, SHE wants to invite her to a party. She is also going to be her friend. It takes a brave girl to step out of the peer group to do that and I am really proud of her.
She is thoughtful, always remembering to bring extra home for her sister, and helpful, according to her teachers and of course, is my little assistant at home. The other day, Nana made some home-cooked donuts and packed them into a little tupperware for my guards. It was 10pm and the Hubs hadn’t had any dinner so whilst driving home (the Hubs was still at the office), I asked T1 if we should save the donuts for Daddy instead since it was his favourite food. She said we should split the donuts and give some to the Guards and save some for Daddy but I explained that there was only one tupperware so it was impossible to split them. She then decided that we should give them to the Guards. Why? She said that Daddy got to eat nice food all the time whilst the Guards hardly got a chance to eat nice food, and since the Guards were working hard through the night, we should give them to the Guards. When Daddy returned home, he was disappointed that he didn’t get to try Nana’s home cooked donuts but happy that his daughter wasn’t a selfish git.
T1 is doing very well at school in all areas and is loved by all her teachers. Her personal tutor at school almost fell off her chair when I told her that T1 did not at all revise for this last mid year exam. Not that it is anything to be proud of because you SHOULD be revising for an exam!!! She is fairly good with her spelling being able to spell words like excellent and delicious yet because she does not revise for her exams, gets simple words like mountain wrong. She is extremely careless…..
T1 is hyper-flexible and very agile. She told me that at school, her gym teacher used her as an example as she was the only person who could do the 180 degree split. She is also able to cartwheel and do a back bend and has recently started swimming the breast stroke. She can swim 30 widths (20m per width) at her school pool. Not lengths, haha. She is currently learning the free style and is very determined to master it. She has great hand-eye coordination and is very observant in general. Her weakness is her arm strength, and the next thing to master is the monkey bars.
She still doesn’t know how to count money well thus will get cheated at the shops and is shaky when it comes to time telling but always insists she is right. For example, if the time were 5.55pm and the short hand is at 6, she will INSIST that it is 6.55pm. As for money, she’s getting there……alright with the lower numbers, just a matter of practice which Mommy never has any time for, but never mind for at school she has the smart card! Just swipe away……..*yikes*
She is a confident child with her speech and drama teacher grading T1 with her having a high standard of performance and demonstrating a wide range of acting techniques. Oh, were we surprised? Drama Queen natural……inborn.
Her favourite hobbies are art and craft and swimming and of course, reading……She is currently reading the Secret Seven series having completed the Famous Five series, and sometimes plonks her head over my shoulder to read whatever it is I am reading, for example, Amy Chua’s book.
She seems to have a talent for learning song lyrics very quickly and is very good at making up her own song lyrics that rhyme. She is still slightly off when it comes to pitch but boy, does she love to sing! She can now play both hands on the piano and is completing the second book of John Thompson. She has a range of song interest liking songs from the latest hits chart busters (Taio Cruz, Miley Cirrus, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Billy Joel, Madonna, Wham etc) to songs she learns at school (Railroad song, For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow, Clementine etc) to Barney’s songs (If All the Raindrops, Mr Sun, Jungle Adventure, Colours All Around, The Clapping Song etc – she knows ALL the lyrics!!! to almost ALL the Barney songs!!! thanks to T2) to her school song.
T1 still likes Ben 10 but only because of school influence. She doesn’t watch any TV because T2 hogs the TV and REFUSES to let anyone else watch anything but Barney. If she doesn’t get to watch Barney, nobody watches anything either. If the TV is on, it has to be Barney. Thus, T1 has given up on the TV, or she watches Barney…….she is into role playing, LOVES role playing. One minute, she’s off to a music camp, the other, she’s a strict teacher teaching T2 how to read. She also likes answering questions and always makes me test her with general knowledge quizzes. And that is hard when your own general knowledge sucks!
T1, for all her love for life, does have a fault and that is her smart ass mouth. It is alright when her quick wit says things like, “Oh my God, T2 just coughed the wall away!” but when I tell her to pick her Tomica cars up because T2 may accidentally trip and fall over them, she picks them up lumberingly mumbling, “Why do you think God gave T2 eyes?” Now that, to me, is a no-no.
Another 3.5 months, and my baby will be 7. What a big girl now……
Look at her, all the swimming has tanned her significantly.

Dear TessaMonkeyMonster,

Eh Che, where do you think she gets her smart mouth from?
Apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree as they say 😉
How fast they grow… like weeds. She’s got a good mama that’s why she’s got all that special qualities.

Such an outstanding little girl you’ve brought up, proud of you!!
all comes from the effort of the mother. U done so well and it reflects on your child 🙂
what a sweet and thoughtful child, to know how to think for the guards. She’s very empathetic it seems. High EQ is just as important, if not more important than high IQ, wouldn’t you agree?
You have such a lovely daughter, m proud of u. Are you currently practising Tiger Mother parenting towards T1 and T2? You might be interested in this debate regarding the parenting https://www.facebook.com/FrisoGrowingUpTogether?sk=app_14167664298
