Road rage and naked child public punishment

The latter will scare and infuriate you to no end. These are true stories happening right here in Kuala Lumpur.

We’ll start with the lesser of evil.

Kampung Pandan roundabout

Whilst driving today, I witnessed a road bully. Malay male on a motorbike stopped 90 degrees in front of a green Iswara that housed a blur looking old man. The bloke on the bike was cursing and swearing at the old man with a flailing arm when the other reached out into his basket for his steel bike lock rod. By that time, I’d already driven past because cars behind were honking but I’d wished and wished I could have stayed just to take down the biker’s number plate.

This is common in KL. Road bullies. And the reality that nobody really cares.

There was obviously something wrong going on between the traffic holders but nobody came to their aid. What if the biker had smashed the old man’s window and started beating him up? How far would he have had to go before someone actually stopped their car to do something?

To be honest, I wouldn’t have been the one to stop because Tee was with me. The most I would have done was to take down the asshole’s number plate. What a fucker.

Semi-Detached House – Section 5, Petaling Jaya

My friend who lives on Jalan SS5/4 witnessed on Sunday during her dog walk, a naked little girl with her hands on her ears, doing squats outside her house. The girl looked about 12 years old, was stark naked (no panties even) and was crying uncontrollably whilst she did her public humiliation exercise. The gate to the girl’s house was slightly ajar and the girl who was doing the squats just continued doing her naked exercise whilst my friend, her husband and their dogs walked past.

They were so embarrassed that they didn’t know what to do, so did nothing. Then they couldn’t sleep for the next two nights as their conscience kept them awake. Today, I got them the number of PS The Children but guess what? They feel that they need to get some evidence first so they are going to continue to ‘spy’ on that house. Because they are neighbours, they are worried about getting ‘involved’. If they reported it to the police, what would the police do? Go in for some questioning, and then the poor child might suffer a worse fate. What do we do in a situation like this???

Someone please go grab that girl out of there right now!!!

Tell me what to do! I’ll do it!!!

  1. abt the girl, I feel SO ANGRY!!! How could they do that to her!!! I cannot tell you what to do Mama. If I knew I would go do it along with you!! OMG! I cannot believe this. But I guess, if that’s as much as the neighbour can do, they have to do it lah. With or without reporting them to the police, the girl is suffering. So they should help her lah. Sigh.. my heart really aches for her. I can only wish that she grow up fast and spread her wings and fly. 🙁

  2. So if I say we gather some mommies and go get the girl out of there, would you? Despite what it may seem and how inexcusable it is, this is just an one-off incident that happened to be witnessed by your friend. Or have there been other incidences? Perhaps the mother is a single mother and had some financial problems and in a fit of anger punished her child in such a humiliating manner. Perhaps after your friend left, the mother cooled down and ran out to sayang her child again. Perhaps after a police report is made, the child’s rich but abusive father finally tracks her down and takes her only child away (after she finally says enough is enough and finds the courage to run away from him, taking their child with her). Okay, the last part may seem like a bad movie plot. But we never know what is the true situation unless we are in the person’s shoes.

Of course I am not advocating we turn a blind eye. What with so many sickos around, we have a responsibility to keep an eye out for children who may be in trouble. But just don’t judge too quickly or act rashly, especially when the child is not in immediate danger.

Re road bullies, call me selfish but I will not risk getting hurt especially if I have my kids in the car with me. Even if I didn’t, I’m sorry but I will still not stop to help as I cannot risk my kids not having a mom around. I’m not sure what I will do as I have not come across such thing before. I am aware that I will not think this way if it were me bearing the brunt of road rage, but I will trust there is some good samaritan out there who is willing to help!

  3. i can’t not comment. what can we do?! if you report, she may be separated from her family. that is not always the best solution for a child, who needs to have her mother whilst she is growing up or risk permanent scarring. not that she is not being scarred at the moment! how can a mother ever do that to her child, i can never understand the workings of such a cold cold heart. i only wish i can give the child a hug and tell her that everything will be alright, that her mother loves her very much otherwise she won’t even bother. sigh! but who am i bluffing? i wish i can give her mother a big scolding and a big tight slap. if you can’t love a child properly, PLEASE don’t give birth to one. go attend a taking care of child for dummy class!! can someone write a letter to the mother and shove it inside her letter box? let her see the error of her ways? there are better ways to teach a child. but for now, i’m going to keep seeing the image of the poor child in my mind. sigh!

  4. I will report. I don’t dare if the parents seek their revenge. But what in the world has possessed them to punish the poor girl like that?

I once had a neighbour who stripped her 14-year-old daughter down to her bra and panties, and locked her overnight in the dog cage. This same neighbour would also cut her daughter’s hair with a blunt pair of scissors to embarrass her. I was too young then, although I had the Child Abuse Hotline memorised.

The world is really getting more cruel.
