Packing with a baby

I have spent this entire week trying to get packed for our impending 2 week trip to Oz which I know will fly like a rocket there and back because as it stands, we are fully booked out and don’t even have time to do any sight seeing. This ALWAYS happens whenever we go to Perth! We have so much family there that we just spend all our time eating and catching up with them.

I made an early decision to pack light, meaning only 5 sets of clothes for everyone and we’ll do laundry regularly. We usually over-pack except that I under-packed on our last trip to Kelantan, oops. Hopefully, I’ll do OK with 5 sets of clothes. I hear it’s freaking cold – not good. All our jackets alone take up so much space!!

Then there is the baby bottles, formula tins, baby crockery and out and about stuff, her huge car seat!!! And stroller…..Then we have to bring along T1’s entertainment for the plane so she doesn’t end up entertaining everyone on the plane instead. They might throw her out. I have to bring my laptop because I have work to do. I haven’t even had time to do 2 weeks worth of forward posts yet – Acckk!!

Today was spent downloading T1’s songs onto her Ipod for the trip. Man, the sacrifices we make for little monsters! I so much wanted to bring along our DSLR but the Hubs said no way. We have enough stuff as it is. Thank goodness we have family to help us carry stuff.

So whilst I am packing, I am reminded again how difficult it is with a baby who crawls around the house. The minute you put everything in the suitcase, you might come back and

a) Find clothes strewn all over the floor

or

b) Find baby in suitcase

or

c) Find baby underneath clothes in suitcase playing peekaboo with sister

or

d) Find your scarf and gloves in the washroom, where they should not be; obviously transported by little ants

I feel like I’m playing a dejavu game of packing. What is it with babies and taking stuff out? It looks like it’s going to be a sleepless night before I can pack properly with her having a long stretch of sleep and OUT of my way.

  1. Reading this post gives me the deja vu feeling I had a little more than a month ago.

And turned out I over-packed for my girl!

Know too well the feeling of ‘fully-booked’ with so many relatives and friends of ours in CA, especially in Nor Cal. But it’s fun la! 😀

And I also didn’t have time to schedule posts for my entire trip….

But at least, I didn’t have the a), b), c) etc etc headache. Cos my girl didn’t seem quite interested to help me pack!

  2. Hey…. have fun in Perth! I love that place! Oh yeah, don’t forget to go picnic at Kings Park… really nice for the kids!

I think the weather should gets better soon with day time warmer but night time still cold… so bring long johns! 😛

  3. ehhhseh!!! going to Perth.. may i join u.. my kids and i were just discussing where to go end of this year.. western countries seems to be so expensive esp in dec..
anyway, u go enjoy yourself and come back refreshed!

  4. Try to slot in a makan session of chilli mussels there! Prepared and cooked by Italians and to die for…and enjoy as much cheese and wine as you can if you plan a trip down to Margaret River. I was peeved I didn’t get to taste as much wine as I could due to my mum’s glare. Sigh.

  5. enjoy your getaway and hope you find a good stash of food for T2 upon arrival.. I hope you didn’t need to bring yr crock pot w you too. The luggage allowance is better spent on shopping!

  6. the car seat & stroller alone already freak me but i salute u, only 5 sets of clothing…seem little to me!! i tend to over-packed coz i will not do laundry, hehe 😛
    enjoy!!
