Our Valentine’s Day Project

This Sunday, T1 and I will work on our Valentine’s Day project. The Hubs and I are not big Valentine fans but I know my girl will certainly love spending some Mommy and daughter time doing some craft (she loves craft!!!) and what more, when it has to do with love. OUR LOVE.

We have this huge basket of crayons at home all mixed and jumbled up, with lots of broken bits and honestly, the kids hardly ever use it because they prefer their marker pens and such. And T1 keeps complaining that she cannot use the crayons anyway because T2 keeps breaking them and eating them.  O_o

I found this lovely Valentine’s Day Project idea online and realised that just like lipstick melting, we can melt crayons! How cool is that? So yes, we’ll be making some heart shaped crayons soon.

If you’re interested to follow suit, because really, what else would you do with little 1 inch stumps of broken crayons, then find yourself a baking tray that is heart shaped, or any shaped really……..you don’t have to do it for Valentine’s. Then put your broken bits of crayons into the baking tray and bake it in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes or until you see that the crayons have melted. Let the tray cool and voila! You have new blended crayons like the ones above!!! You can even use them just for decoration…….put them in a glass jar or give them out to your kids friends as special friendship tokens.

Our next project, which we shall hire Nana for (although she doesn’t know it yet!) is to sew us lots of felt hearts!!!T1 can help with choosing and cutting the fabric. I’ll make the templates and Nana will SEW.

For my wedding, Nana sewed almost 200 teddy bears in felt so she should be able to do this with her eyes closed. We shall scatter these hearts around our house just to remind us that we are a home of love…….

Seriously, my 1.5  year old and my 6.5 year old can fight big time now. Who would have thought! Let’s hope these hearts will remind them to love more whenever they’re at war.

So will you be working on a Valentine’s Day Project this year? If you’d like some ideas, hop onto Valentine’s Day Projects to start feeling the love……
