My fabulous dinner at Lafite, Shangri La Kuala Lumpur

This dinner was not paid by me 🙂 but ahhhh……how I wish somebody would pay for me to eat good food everyday!! Mind you, Bakuteh at the roadside is good food too…..

This was my starter. Scallops and pasta. I can’t remember the fancy schmancy names of the dishes but I’ll tell you what I know. The waiter kept reminding us that the soup below the black bowl which contained flower petals (I think?) was NOT to be eaten. It was to keep our dish warm. I wondered what dreaded chemical it was. Anyway, the scallops were Heavenly…….and I’m not even a fan of scallops.

A big chunk of foie gras. You either love it or hate it. Those of you who dislike goose liver, would never understand the big deal. The Hubs hates it. I love it. And to be offered such a big chunk? Man, I totally savoured every succulent ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ bite of it. The pink bits were mashed potato of some sort and some black cherries with the green thyme heads, I think it was……Heavenly Take Two. Mmmmm……………

I swear, things only got better and better, and despite the small portions you see here, this actually left us completely stuffed out of our brains. This was the most gorgeous steak I’d ever tasted. I don’t know what magic the chef did to marinate it or whatever but it tasted SO good. Texture was perfect. Cut was perfect. Taste was orgasmic. It came with some potato square and some lightly sauted vegetables. Real…………………………nice.

Coupled with lots of fresh from the oven rustic bread of all varieties, smoothened with herb butter and lots and lots of different wines and champagnes (it was on the HOUSE and damn good too!!!), it was probably the best meal I’ve had all year.

Below is what Lafite serves as their complimentary dessert, pink candy floss decorated as flower peonies on an iron cast plant. The soil was a mix of pure chocolate and a few coffee beans. There were a few chocolate leaves too. And then coffee.

We were so drunk by evening end. And totally HAPPY!!!!!

  1. The last time I was there, it was with my boss and we ended up eating for free (the bill was close to 2K for 6 pax!) cos boss decided service was lousy, and complained…bleh!
