My 7 Vanity Sense Facts – How Vain Are You? A Woman’s Post

I got tagged again! by Health Freak Mommy to do this test, but before even doing the test, I knew it was going to be a less than 50% score and sure enough, I scored a timid 23%. My Mother. will. not. be. proud. She is always nagging me (despite how proud she is of herself that claims she is not a nagger) to dress better, look better, slim down, blah blah blah…..Well, I don’t blame her because most of the times that we go out together, people usually mistake me for the maid. And they think that Tee is my Mom’s daughter. No kidding.

  1. The reason lies in the fact that I don’t wear make-up. Well, I wear make-up maybe 5 times a year. 10 times a year, maybe I put on some eyeliner and gloss. I am THAT lazy. But give me a break! I wore make-up almost every single day during my corporate days and my skin now needs to breeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaathe. And when does a full-time mom have any time to put on make-up anyway? I have a lot to say about make-up but shall leave that for another day.
  2. I don’t wear moisturiser. I have some but I wear them also like 30 days in a year, when for some insane reason my skin gets terribly dehydrated and starts feeling icky and tight. Usually when we have just returned from a colder climate. I have combination skin, easily manageable and happy with just face wash. I have up to 5 face washes on my vanity counter that gets rotated just like all my other beauty products – perfume, moisturisers, shampoos, soaps. Friends warn me that I may not see the ill-efects now from my laziness but hell, my Mother is just like that, and she has good skin. Of course, this is owing to the daily freshly made fruit juice she consumes everyday for her cancer. I have hope still…..
  3. If I was vain, I’d have done something serious about my body shape or lack of, a long time ago. I kick myself wishing I was more vain but unfortunately, the mind is willing and the body is not. I love food too much. So despite real intentions to have a lifestyle change, the results are not showing yet. I used to be 47kg (my ideal weight). When I met my husband, it jumped to 52kg. After we got married, happiness got the better of me and kilos just loved me, so I had a few more kilo friends every year till I hit 62kg. At my pregnancy peak, I was 75kg. I’m now swinging between 65-69kg and this, ladies and gentlemen, is a big secret that I am letting out. Some people say I don’t look it so maybe I have heavy bones. Or just a heavy head.
  4. Having some Eurasian blood (I think?), has transferred some Big Bottom genes into my rear end. I have had a big behind from as far as I can remember, even during the days when my waist was 22 inches, my hips were still 36 inches. What to do? Live with it!!! Sometimes if it looks too big, then I tie a jumper around my waist to ‘cover’.
  5. Another secret? On the weekends, I brush my teeth AFTER breakfast. Assuming breakfast is at home…..unless we have visitors!
  6. I love painted nails and toenails but I haven’t got them. My Mom has always said that a good manicure and pedicure maketh a polished lady. I want to keep trying though. Except that it won’t really go with my dressing. *ponder – eyes looking upwards*
  7. I’m almost always in T-shirts and jeans. And Birkenstocks. And I carry a diagonal sling bag most days for practicality. Of course, I was very different pre-baby *wink*.

You Are 23% Vain

Okay, so you’re slightly vain from time to time, but you’re not superficial at all.You are realistic. You know that looks matter. You just try to make them matter less.
