Long Weekend……

Everyone I know has gone to some beach or other and I am so jealous! We tried at the eleventh hour to book Club Med Cherating (DUH!!!) and it was fully booked. Too bad we didn’t think of Tanjong Jara Terengganu or we could have tried that. Too late now. We spent our long weekend in good ol’ Kuala Lumpur instead. Oh, well…..I am off to The Maldive Islands next week anyway so I shouldn’t be complaining. Heeeeee…….

It was a productive weekend nevertheless.

I finally plucked up the courage to highlight my hair. I had wanted to colour my whole head green, in lovely shades of green but the hairstylist at SAW refused. WTF!!! It’s my head, thank you very much!!! He insisted that in order to get green, I’d have to bleach my hair and that was very, very bad. But I didn’t care. I wanted green. I had seen this lovely girl at Smiggles in Singapore who looked like a fairy with her long green hair and I wanted that. But no. He refused. So I settled for streaks of blonde instead and now look like a……well, ok…….you decide. My kids say I look like a tiger.

We also got to watch The Avengers, invited by TGV (bless them, they gave us 8 movie passes in total so we can go for more movies, they expire end July!) and had loads of fun as they were testing their new family cinema concept. And the next day, we watched The Fast and The Furious. Movie buffs, can you tell?

We also explored eating cheaply after spending RM370 on dinner at the Angus Steak House at Publika. But oh, my goodness!!!! It was the best meal ever!!! Their steaks are divine and much better than PRIME. If I need a good steak, I would go to Angus!!! But since then, a friend of mine has promised me that I could do my own Black Angus at home following her recipe so I am certainly going to try that out since we are such carnivores at home. Bad, bad, bad. Anyway, the Hubs freaked out at the RM370 bill and commanded us to stick to a RM30 budget per meal. LOL!!! Honestly, all we had were 2 steaks (one cheaper than the other) and a spaghetti carbonara. Uhuh. I’m not lying.

So we tried our RM30 per meal mission. Our next meal was BAKUTEH on Jalan Ipoh (YUMMMMZZZ!!!) that cost RM65. FAIL. We had 3 rice, 1 pot of BAKUTEH for 2 people, a bowl of Yow Char Kuay, a bowl of Taufu, a plate of iceberg lettuce, and 2 drinks.

The next day, we had Indian food at Anjappar in Brickfields that cost RM48. FAIL AGAIN. We ordered a fish bryiani for 2, a palak paneer, a bowl of rasam, and a pineapple juice.

Finally, we had dinner at The Lake Club and ordered 10 satay sticks, 2 seaweed popiahs, 1 chicken kebab with plain nun, 2 drinks and that cost RM40. FAIL.

But as you can see, we were improving. Practise makes perfect.

That got me thinking…..is it really POSSIBLE for a family of 4 to eat for RM30 per meal???? Our norm used to be RM100-150 and of course, sometimes we go over budget when we eat Korean or Japanese. Or RM1,000 if we ate at PRIME for New Year’s Eve, LOL. It is our absolute mission though, to keep our meals down to RM30 each. Only because I do not feel like cooking all weekend. Yet eating out is so bad for you. I shall really try to cook more during the weekends but it’s my day off. Tomorrow, we are meeting some friends for Banana Leaf. I am already QUITE sure that it isn’t going to cost under RM30. Sigh.

This only means one thing.

I have to work harder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I can because my life saving job is actually quite easy.
