Did I not tell you that the Hubs said our helper had a better life than us? She went to Cameron Highlands with her agent 2 weeks ago for holiday. We gave her some advance salary to go. And I told her that when our family couldn’t afford to go on holiday, we just don’t go. She got the message. But she went anyway and brought us back some vegetables, a pot of flowers and some cactus plants. How thoughtful. She really knows how to sweeten my anger. But the Hubs warned me not to be smitten by her kind gesture. He has a point.

Whilst passing some very large houses on Bukit Bandaraya one day, I told her how lucky she was that she didn’t have to clean such large houses. I said that my in-laws in Kota Bharu, have a house that is just as big and only one person to clean. Her reply? “Oh, it shouldn’t be a problem if you know how to manage you time, Mam.” I would really love to see her in one of those houses and another employer one day.

2 weekends after Cameron Highlands, it was our turn to go on holiday so we sent her to the agent’s as she didn’t want to stay at our place alone. Thus she’s had two holidays over a month. That’s a whole week of holiday! What a life! What more? We are out of the home 3 days in a week so she doesn’t have to cook for us and gets to do whatever she likes at home. I’ve noticed now that the cleaning has started slacking.

That aside, my Mom’s helper, who also has a darn good life, even better than mine, has run away. Again!! And of course, stole tons of stuff. Again!! *shakes head* These girls, they don’t have much to do at my Mom’s place and I think they get bored. Plus it doesn’t help that there is an Indonesian community downstairs to influence them. She had already made a spare set of my Mom’s house keys as after she left, she locked up. So kind…..All she needed to do was to keep 1500sf clean and do the laundry for 2 people. Hardly any ironing. No cooking required. It’s almost as though you need to give them A LOT of work so that they’re super busy and won’t get bored so they won’t run away! Or maybe, they just fall blindly in love and have to run away.

I’m still determined to make a damn good helper out of mine! UURRGGHH!
