Being totally OLD, I swear this ‘bougie’ word was from my 12 year old, who’s totally Bougie. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not hence my appearance today about the topic.

Those of you who’ve followed me from the beginning of time would know that my family income has grown just as I have in all directions (literally!) and I’ve still to this date not decided if I am able to get a Birkin, or pay some ridiculous amount for a car. It’s literally buy a handbag that costs a car and buy a car that costs a home.

I know that typically, people who work hard and grow their wealth experience a totally different dimension of life between earning 200k to 500k to 1 million to 5 million, and so on. They spend a lot from the initial excitement but this dies down once they decide how they really wish to live their lives thereafter. As for me, I’ve been coasting…. My only indulgence really is flying on business and enjoying our holidays to the max, unless you consider giving others money a luxury. Ok well, I did get a new house. But I still can’t get past spending $150k on a bag and close to $1m on a car even when I do give almost half my income away, just to ease guilt.

Anyways, I am still considering where my money mindset stretches to. They say, do what makes you happy. If I give away a hundred thousand, does that warrant me spending a hundred thousand on a bag? It’s criminal. What about the poor starving children around the world? And the poor animals that get killed for leather?

Then I think about the greats like Carl Icahn and other billionaires who undoubtedly worked their sexy arses off to get to where they are today and like Tony Robbins and Bill Gates, who are feeding the biggest populations of the world, much more so than anyone else. Don’t they deserve to spend their money on themselves too? They do!

What do you think? Just because you earn a lot, do you think it is right to expend unnecessary phenomenal amounts of your hard earned money on….. ‘stuff’?

What if your spending fed jobs? Revolved the economy. Made a sales girl earn her commission for the month? And beyond that, fed families all along that very same value chain? Would it be better then to keep the money in the safe or to spend it, considering you’d already given more than half to feed the underfortunate?

What I really, REALLY want to do, is educate people. The world severely needs education. My country alone…. And I need money to do that. I guess I’ll put off that Croc Birkin for now after the 3rd year of putting it off.

Would you go bougie or would you stay under the radar? My late mom always said I had expensive taste even when young, and said I’d need to find myself a rich man to afford such a lifestyle. My dad had more faith. He said I could do better and I did. I made myself afford it instead WITHOUT any man.

Ladies, it’s NEVER TOO LATE to do more for you. Just make a decision to make yourself proud and I can help you along because I know exactly how now anyone can make a million within the year. It’s bye-bye Birkin….

What about getting a new BMW X5 sports then? Oh dear. We are back to square one! To bougie or not to bougie….
