Eating in Cameron Highlands

After an entire morning of picking up trash, hey, that’s 4 kilometers mind you, of steep uphill struggles, we were famished. Our meals were all packaged up by the resort so we ate there mostly, despite cravings to get out into the town to eat real food.

Breakfast at the resort was good – ample supply of fresh juices, an assortment of fresh bread, excellent croissants and pastries, sweet fresh fruit, cereals and muesli, yogurts and hot meals comprising a choice of the standard bacon and eggs etc etc fry up, oriental noodles of the day, exotic waffles and pancakes, and more eggs in different styles and settings. And coffee and tea, of course. There was a lot to eat for breakfast. It was good.

Lunch was again a choiced set menu of stuff like chicken chops, chicken pies, bento boxes, bangers and mash, sandwiches, fish and chips, blablabla……I don’t consider this real food but……..it was what was included.

The kids sat on their own table everyday, for obvious reasons : we did not like their company and we did not want other guests to know that they were ours.

They got along fine, spurring each other to be independent without needing Mommy’s help in any way to cut up sausages et al. Very good. Lots of chatter and banter.

The Hubs’ sad bento box.

My Caesar salad was good. I had it everyday, amongst other things of course. Don’t ever order the steak, it’s lousy. Deserts were good. Japanese restaurant was lousy. OK, if you had a choice, I’d say just get out into the town to eat. Nothing beats real food versus hotel/resort food.

Suddenly, we realised that the kid’s table got awfully quiet. The boys had finished their food fast enough and were off elsewhere to look for more adventure, but the girls, who were always the more noisy ones anyway, suddenly went quiet. Strange?

So we peeked over and saw them busy playing ‘masak-masak’ with their food. *faint*

When I walked over, Tee defensively said, “Look Mom!! Since I don’t like peas but since I know they are good for me, I am hiding them in my mash potatoes!!! Then I eat them like this, Uummm….”

If you ask me, it was just a quick excuse that she had thought up because she was full and then had the idea to start playing ‘masak-masak’. If you notice, carrots are also in the mash concoction and her girlfriend was doing exactly the same thing.

Kids, I tell you…….

Oh well, at least they had fun *rolls eyeballs*

And here I am thinking of all the starving children of the world *sad*
