Documenting books you’ve read

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I’ve always been anal about many things. Like how I can only drink water from a glass. Like how I like my toilet paper to be pulled from the outside of the toilet roll holder and not the inside. Like how I just couldn’t go braless. Ever.

All this while, I’ve always wish I’d written down every single book that I’ve ever read in my entire life. I’m not sure why but I like the thought of having a library of stories and information stored in my head. Plus having a list makes you recall facts that could be used for so many things. Like to help, as a conversation starter, to tell more stories.

Tonight whilst I was reading the fifth bedtime story to Tee, I had this crazy idea to document everything that she’s read (or rather, read to her, for now). Wouldn’t it be nice if she had a list? We could discuss stories over and over, learn lessons, talk about the world and bond. Tee reads at least ten NEW books every week because we are members of a children’s library. She gets on average between five to ten new books a month from the book store. That’s fifty new stories a month! How would she remember any of the stories for it’s sheer volume alone? I don’t know.

Then the thought of ‘extra work’ crept up upon me. As though I haven’t enough on my plate. But the nice idea still pushed at me because it is just such a nice idea!!! So I asked the Hubs what he thought.

“What in the world for?!” he looked at me like I had a breast flopping out of my mouth.

“Because I’ve always wanted to do it for myself.” I said defensively and the breast started twisting like a pretzel.

“You’re crazy.” By this time, the breast was having convulsions.

OK. So idea scrapped. He’s such a wet blanket!

  1. Just tell him, “Aw, honey, wouldn’t that be FUN?” *eyes blinking 1000 watts* “You know what would be FUNNER? You start on the list…since you are suuuuuch a great organizer.” LOL! I know, I know..it might not work..but it’s worth a try.

Just so you know, that’s how I get my man do my stuff. Men just needed a little praise and they will climb hills for us. Okay, don’t expect them to climb Mt Everest..the little mount behind your garden will do.

  2. I had thought about documenting every movie I ever saw. I have started typing in a spreadsheet couple of times, then the interest dried off. The fun lies in watching movies or reading (rereading) books again and again. So, why waste time in recording all?

  3. That’s a great idea but that’s lots of work too. However, if you think you wanna do it, just do it. Often, you just need a push to start something and you can give yourself that push.
