Child Labour in Malaysia

Fortunately, child labour in Malaysia isn’t so rampant as it is in many third world countries. In Asia alone, 44 million children are engaged in child labour. The UNICEF definition of child labour is when a child is made to ‘work’ (and this includes domestic work as below) for 28 hours or more per week when he is between 5-11 years old, or an hour per week for economic work (when you send them out to earn an income).

So really, how many of you are involved in child labour in Malaysia? I am totally against it.

Except that this child is very happy to do the work. She’d even pay me so she can do it. The best part? She’s richer than me, so yeah, I’ll take what I can still get.

Child labour in Malaysia has no place at all. If you see it happening, report it.

Stop it.
