Breastfeeding and coffee

I have been drinking coffee despite breastfeeding. I need it to preserve my sanity. At least one a day. I try to keep track and average it out to not more than 10 a week. But people keep putting freshly grounded Illy beans in hot boiling water in front of me and the offer is too irresistible. People like the lovely people at Fukuhara. You don’t know where that is? Oh……you HAVE to make your way there then. It’s a beautiful F&B venue behind Hock Choon supermarket in Ampang / behind Victoria Station on Jalan Ampang / opposite Ampwalk / and if you still don’t know where, just email me and I’ll post you the Dummies Guide to Fukuhara.

Apart from having an Illy coffee bar (with the best of KL’s desserts soon to come), they also have a secret stash of Vietnamese coffee in their cellar. Prior to this, I had never tasted Vietnamese coffee thus was encouraged to try an iced one. When the Hubs asked if it was coffee beans from the cat’s poo, I was perturbed and had second thoughts on trying it. But I took a milliliter of a sip and then another and then had seconds. It was divine!!! It was such an educational experience because did you know that the most expensive coffee in the world comes out of a cat’s arse? I am not joking. Go do your research. And just for the record, Fukuhara does not carry the cat’s poo coffee because it is just too expensive, but if you ask for some Vietnamese coffee, you might just be entertained.

How many of you out there drink coffee whilst breastfeeding? Perhaps that is why baby T2 stays awake at night and sleeps throughout the day? Nah.

  1. I love coffee….but during breastfeeding, I stopped completely but i breastfed for about 8 months only…so now….coffee quite often….hehe…

  2. i drink coffee all the time when breastfeeding. ever since he is 3 months plus until today, at 13 months.. ahha. yes, i am still breastfeeding. and now that he is bigger, i get to drink 2 cups a day instead of 1 a day!!

  3. I drink it throughout pregnancies (all 3) and breastfeeding. Unless you have a straw in your mouth that constantly dispenses coffee into your gut, it’s ok lah (or so that’s what I tell myself!)
