For the longest time this year, I have spent hours deliberating on the direction of this blog. It’s readership is increasing by leaps and bounds, my Adsense income doubled from last month so I’m looking forward to more checks. Local advertisers have begun contacting me. It’s been a great ride. And all thanks to you, my dearest, dearest readers, some of whom are truly amazing. Amazing because you relate to me and there is a connection so much so that I know you care about me more than my physical friends. Seriously…..thank you for all your private emails, your concern, your appreciation. My gratitude, I assure you, goes beyond words. And if there is anything I can do back for you, please let me know.
Having a blog like mine naturally opens up oneself to many dangers and risks, which I am well aware and I’ve had to constantly weigh the pros and cons of what I want to put down and what not to, to the point that it’s tiring. The reasons I maintain a blog is common, like many stay-at-home-moms, but because this blog is gaining popularity, the risks that come with it increases too. I’ve had the opportunity this last month on 3 different occasions to take the blog public, meaning I could have publicised it in a very big way and attracted truck loads of traffic. This means I can earn a lot more money as more traffic equals more money but I chose not to because of this constant battle within me.
It is a contradiction though because having a blog like mine itself already opens the world to crucify me should they wish. Who are my readers? I don’t have a clue apart from the fact that my Malaysian readers have caught up with my American readers of late, being almost equal now. Yeah, did you know that for the longest time, I had more American readers? They were all silent readers though…..I also know I have 6000 unique visitors each month, meaning 6000 different people are reading my blog but I only know of less than a hundred? That’s a scary thought.
Should I start some kind of censorship? Should I remove the photographs? For safety’s sake? After all, a writer is best credited for the written word and not a picture, right? Then again, my friends and relatives abroad WANT to see what’s happening in our little cozy home! And what fun is a blog without pictures??!!! So what do I do?????????????????
I’ve read somewhere that when you start having 10,000 unique visitors to your blog each month, you are starting to become a tiny, mini-serious blogger. It’s almost as though you have an audience of 10,000 people. That’s a freaking lot of people watching you every month. For me, anyway! I’m heading in that direction and it is scary, because how much of my private life do I keep back? Do I even want to be recognised? I’m really torn. Please help.

Hmm….I can’t dish out good advice cos I don’t even have 20 readers on my blog! I guess if I were in your shoes, I would continue to post photos but I’ll definitely leave out details such as where I live, where T1 schools, how my daily schedule looks like or even which continent I live in! There are sickos out there.
Please please don’t take away the photos. I just love reading abt Tee and now T2. I suppose you will have to be extra careful of what you blog about and yes it can be very tiresome.
ALl the best in your decision. Don’t be surprise if I call out to you or Tee when I am in KL.
Congrats on your successful blog. Yes, please don’t the the photos away. It’s great that your reader can relate to your life but I ahre that you leave out info such as address, schools, workplace, etc. I’m on facebook and although I post photos for the benefit of my friends and families, strangers can have access to the pix, such as friend’s friends, etc. Just becareful with sensitive/private info but keep the photos coming in.

wow.. you have that many readers? Shucks..now i gotta be careful with what i comment. Heheh. If I felt that way.. gee.. you, as the writer must have felt ten folds the anxiety eh?
U r a mini mini booger.. ! (Gosh.. be careful, ppl are reading, goolymama!)
becos ppl are reading ergo the websiteless sign off. 😀
I love what you write.. and the pics. Dun change anything yet.
Wow..congrats on ur growing readership. I can’t be bothered with mine… but I’m getting more careful about my kids’ blogs. 😉
After all, I’m just apple sauce in America.
Heh..
Wow!! Congrats! Your blog is really very successful. 🙂
Please do not stop posting the photos cause I really like looking at your girls, especially their antics that really tickled me to the core. However, do put in some watermarks though cause you don’t want any Tom, Dick or Harry who are up to no good to download and use them.
i know my blogs ain’t popular and reading ur post now makes me think that what if i have that many people reading my blogs and it is a scary thought too. i’ve only just started reading your blog and as much as i love reading your posts, i can relate to you also in terms of your privacy.
it’s a good thing you don’t share much info on your surroundings. i guess u will have to continue to weigh the pros and cons before you put up any posts if you want to continue blogging.
i have a suggestion for u in terms of comments. perhaps before it’s posted up for all to see, you have it approved first in case of the people who know you blurts out some info abt u that u wldn’t want others to know. coz i know for a fact we also read other ppl’s comments.
Wow, congrats on the great traffic! 🙂 Please don’t put your pictures away and stop blogging about your family. I love reading about your little girl’s antics! 🙂
i hate posting blog without a pic too. very sien right?
