Lessons my Mom taught me – Part 22 of 23

If you’ve got it, flaunt it

As a teenager, Mom walked into every room like she owned it.

Whilst for the longest time, I peeked in like I wasn’t sure I belonged.

Mom had a magnetic presence.

She wore red lipstick, big earrings, beautiful shoes and just had that unshakeable belief in herself. Even if she wore anything FAKE, everyone would think it was REAL. It was her energy.

Meanwhile, I grew up hiding, staying small, wanting to be the ‘good girl’, wanting so much to be liked. Yet not daring to take up any space until I claimed prude status.

When I confronted her why she was so big, she smiled, “If you’ve got it, you flaunt it.”

It was an English idiom that suggested that you should be PROUD to display your talents, skills, or good qualities. The drawback of it was that you might be judged as arrogant or a show off, to those who were raised with prim and proper ideologies.

I wasn’t sure what I thought of that.

Then I caught myself. Gosh. Am I judging?!? Stop judging. Judging is not only such a big sin, it completely blocks prosperity and wealth.

After investing in my first coaching programme (before I could afford it) and 38 coaching programmes later, I learnt that indeed you HAVE to be able to take OWNERSHIP of your gifts.

The bolder the better.

Because if you don’t, and you stay so ‘humble’ hiding, you are not only NOT honouring you in your authentic truth but are showing your own lack of self worth, and that is NOT a place you wish to go.

I know most have been taught otherwise, just like how most were taught money doesn’t grow on trees. It is also why they stay stuck in a doom loop.

Hiding erases you.

When you play small, you miss out on being seen for who you really are.

It may FEEL safer, but it costs you your voice, your power and the impact that you were put here on Earth to create.

Taking up space gives others permission to do the same. Your visibility liberates others. When you shine your light, not out of ego but from truth, you become a mirror for others to remember their own light.

Playing small does NOT serve your purpose.

You cannot fulfill a big calling (your offsprings, for eg.) when you shrink yourself to fit a small version of you.

Your gifts, your story, your presence, people out there are waiting for it.

Hiding is often an inherited trait and visibility is reclamation.

You may have learnt to dim yourself to be accepted, or to avoid judgment. But when you choose to FLAUNT your truth, you break generational patterns to create new ones. So important.

Confidence is a muscle. You don’t wait to feel ready. You DECIDE and claim your space, then grow into it. The more you show up, the more natural it becomes and abundance and wealth flows in ever so easily.

This is why I share it with everyone now, exactly what I do, unapologetically pledging that I can help them to higher places; not with arrogance but in the knowing. THE FULL KNOWING.

I am so grateful to Mom for showing me that leaders go first and the rest will follow.

Because people are too scared and keep making up all kinds of historical conditioning excuses that does not serve them.

You weren’t born to stay small.

You were born to shine. Really.

Please start flaunting it; your story, your scars, your strength, your everything!!

You deserve it and so does everyone else. Yes.
