Baking Gingerbread for Christmas

This year, we had a great plan to bake gingerbread men for everybody, tie it up nicely into little packages with ribbons and hand deliver it to our friends. And so before our big project, we decided to do a little trial run. We scoured the net for a recipe and found one we thought sounded like our last batch that we had baked successfully several years back.

Gingerbread dough all ready to set in the fridge

.

T1 flattening the dough in preparation for cutting. Argh! That reminds me! I need a rolling pin! Timber or stainless steel? Any recommendations?

.

We literally flattened the dough with our fingers….

.

And off we went…..

.

These were mine…..they were not easy to cut out, these gingerbread men! Too soft. Maybe it was because we left it out of the fridge too long. I remember taking it out to do work on it and then something happened and we had to let it be for a bit. Maybe T2 had a poo or something…..blek.

.

T1 sure had fun!

.

She made gingerbread aliens!

.

These were my men baked. Tasted great. Just looked deformed…..

.

T1’s tray of aliens, bones and hearts…..tasted great too!

.

And because our gingerbread looked far from gorgeously pretty and more like shit, we aborted out gingerbread men project for Christmas. So there. Now you know why you never got any gingerbread men from us.

Next time you can put the dough in between the clingy wrap and flatten it with your chopping board! kekeke
Ask T1 or T2 to sit on it… they will love to help that way!

else like what Chinnee suggested, use your wine bottles… 😛
