Back into my dark cave………….

So I’m stuck here alone without any help again. Having a full time business to run, a side business and juggling kids activities, school and their persistent and ‘unplanned’ demands IS. NOT. EASY.

I don’t know why the hell I do it but I think it’s because I’m bat shit crazy………

Over the last 6 months, I’ve been dabbling with maid after maid after maid. We had the Filipino turned hooker as starters and since joining the maid forum on facebook, I’ve since discovered that Filipinos have a tendency to soak your tea towels with their period stained panties or used sanitary napkins for a purpose! I know it sounds completely gross and disgustingly absurd but go find yourself a Filipino friend and ask her if it’s true. And to think that I was a victim of that period stained shit – OMG! My body turns into jelly just thinking about the past……

After that incident, we went into maid phobia mode for a few months. Then came the part-time Indonesian cleaners. Those got changed a few times round for whatever reason, usually because the agent changed them and you had hardly any say because you were really just paying them by the hour to clean your home. For a few months, I spent more than RM2000 every month on these part-time cleaners to come in daily just to take care of T2 and then decided that I should really save the money and get myself a full time live-in maid.

After much coaxing, the Hubs agreed and we got ourself another Filipino maid who ran away after a few days. HOWEVER…………….this girl contacted me after running away to apologise that she’d run away and the reason was because she’d only used the agent to enter the country! Her plan was always to work with her family here who worked in a cafe but entering the country was difficult so she pretended to want to be a maid to enter then ran away.

Check this out – she even told me that for Filipino maids, they are taught that the 1st thing you do when you first go work with a new employer is to find their address. Dig their study, raid their mail, look everywhere in the house until you have their home address so that in the case of an emergency, you can alert your fellow Filipino friend/gang to come get you. Secondly, if you need to run away, just do it. Leaving your passport behind is NO BIG DEAL. A new one can be made for less than RM1500.

At that point, the Hubs said NO MORE FILIPINOS.

Of course, this is after hearing our friend’s stories with their own crazy Filipino maids. Honestly, there are some really fantastic Filipino maids out there, maybe 1 in every million, but I only come across one every 10 years or so. So we ordered ourself an Indonesian maid instead.

After waiting months, she arrived but after her 1st week, said she had to go back because her husband needed her back. WTF. I told her she was on contract but they don’t seem to understand that concept. In any case, the husband brought some gangsters to see the agent and insisted for his wife to be sent back so I lost my maid. I liked her too.

In between, our British Nanny was our saving grace but she’s gone too now!

As I crawl back into my dark cave of hell, I keep chanting to myself that I have done this before. I have slept on very little hours and have survived. I will survive.

Till my new Indonesian maid and British Nanny come back.

  1. omg…..

ok I have NO freaking idea what i’m going to do when my Cambodian maid’s contract ends!!! I love her but she’s going back for good sob sob.

Was contemplating Filipino maids till I read your post. Now I don’ tthink I want one. Just kill me now.

  2. Well, life still goes on and I am sure you will be fine. But why not you just drop some of your “personal goals” at the moment and wait till your children are bigger, you can pursue them again easily? I still feel at T2 age, she needs your time more than anyone else. Just my opinion.

  3. Omg! Sorry to hear this! I just heard abt your maid situation from Paik Ling today.
You will survive! I’m surviving but very reluctant to apply for one now. Let’s see how long I can survive this. We survived for 6 mths without a full time live in maid but we do have a part time maid who comes in 3x a week to clean and do the laundry…

  4. Fellow victim of Filipino maid, I emphatise. Hang in there! I finally found a great Indonesian maid, and I hope your maid situation improves likewise too!
