Agoda pissed me off this morning after I’d already seen rage in little niggly Malaysian irritations such as the bad maintenance of vehicles that are allowed to be on the roads, such as delinquent bad car parkers, such as crazy drivers zooming around in residential areas, such as the atrocious facilities we have for the disabled.
I tried booking a hotel in Singapore using Agoda because I had points to use up and initially, it gave me a figure for the room I’d booked, charged my card and then suddenly it sent me an email to verify that the room wasn’t booked and that my credit card charge would be refunded. What the…..
So I had to REBOOK on Agoda again, well, I didn’t have to but I was already half way and wanted to use up my points, right? By the time I returned to Agoda to book that very same room in that very same hotel, the price had increased by RM250. I was just slightly annoyed. Was this a ploy to trick people like me? A severe technical error where someone booked it a second before me? Why charge my card then?
Anyway, Agoda, this isn’t the first time you’ve pissed me off. I know you’re really big and amazing as one of the pioneers in accommodation bookings but I have spent quite a lot of energy fighting with you guys about my screwed up accommodation in the past. Remember the time we paid RM36,000 for accommodation only to find that you moved us to another hotel? No words to describe.
Let’s hope that when I get to Singapore, my hotel room is as I have booked it!
