A day without kids at the hospital

I hate hospitals with a vengeance but today, I spent 12 hours in one accompanying my mom, who’s been admitted, and spent half a day discussing politics, education and migration with Tok-Tok. Even Tok-Tok wants to migrate and that’s really something. If you knew him (and I’ve known him for practically 30 years), you’d know he was an old school, traditionalist who is all for Malaysia and always fighting for a better country but now, he’s practically given up. He has been fighting hard for change in the last 10 years and feels completely unsupported. I know the problems and they’re not easily solvable. It’s always easy to talk but until you are in the position and faced with so much shit to clean up, then only will you realise how big and deep some problems really are.

My poor mother, she’s been starved of food by Doctors orders since 2 days ago. After 18 hours of no food, she was starting to feel really hungry and by the time she’d gone without food for 36 hours, she was really starting to get weak. I kept joking with her that she got to experience what Ethiopian children go through – starvation and extreme hunger! and every life experience is worth a try at least once! And she said I needed the experience more than her! Was she trying to say I was fat? She wasn’t even allowed Milo. And this completely screwed up her cancer medication which are very strong (it completely rips your stomach linings layer by layer) and cannot be taken on an empty stomach. She is only allowed plain water, no soups, coffee, nothing. I really hope we will get news by tomorrow as I cannot stand seeing her suffer like this.

The Hubs brought the girls to see her in the evening, which cheered her up plenty. They clambered all over her hospital bed and baby T2 went straight for the bed remote control. They really love their Nana, them two.

Tomorrow, I’m dropping T1 off at a friend’s place who has kindly offered to take her off our hands whilst I am in hospital with Mom again and wait. Hear this. The Hubs will be taking T2 to the market. Yes, he is really going to go single-handedly with my baby to the wet market. Let’s hope there will be no dramas, I will be praying hard. Or for all you know, he might wake up tomorrow and decide perhaps it wasn’t such a good idea after all.

  1. Your T2 will be a babe magnet for your hubs… Err but then, don’t think your hubs interested with the Aunties from the market!

I understand with the migration thing. My ex-boss who used to be soooooo pro-Malaysia has started to move his assets out and making his children apply for Oz PR. 5 years ago, he was still very positive about our country …but not anymore!
