Earnings from Mamapumpkin

People always ask me how much I earn from writing rubbish every week and I always tell them what I think I earn in my head but today, I went into Paypal to really check what I’ve earned this year considering how little I get to go online with a baby and no help, and the result is USD1,500 this year to date. That is an average of USD250 per month. It’s not much but considering that I do what I like (write rubbish), it’s better than nothing!

Back in the day circa 2006-2007, I used to earn an average of USD1,000 per month (working 8-12 hour days online, mind you) but now the blogging arena has become saturated and advertisers have tightened their ropes, plus the fact that I am not active, I’m not surprised at all. So for now I will have to settle for some pocket change.

Out of these earnings total earnings over 3 years, USD4,000 has gone to my shopping bill in the US when we went to New York and the same went to various charities (to remove frivolous spending guilt and get tax relief although this year, I have pledged not to do any charity) and the rest has gone into supporting family expenses. Nothing is saved.

The reason I am publishing my income here is to let you know that if you worked hard, you can make the same income or more online. Not to show off, because really, there is nothing to show but if you want to think that, be my guest.

I still know of bloggers who are making USD1,000 a month or more and wish I had more time to invest but well, oh well……

There! So now you know!

  1. oooh…thats one kate spade a month (sale item). Hahahah. I always equate money/earnings to bag prices.

  2. Hey, earning USD250 a month is a lot! That’s like RM800 a month. My earnings from paid posts have reduced significantly (though I have a PR2 for all 3 blogs) since 2 yrs ago 🙁

  3. US1500 a year?? That’s a lot..

I think I only made like USD2000 in 3 years!

    What’s your secret?
