My best friend at Uni.

She had jumped off the 22nd floor of her father’s apartment without leaving a suicide note. She had called me the day before, from Singapore to London, to chat. The grief that I went through took a long time to heal and till today, a part of me is still missing. I will never get over it and I will always feel this incredible sadness every year on her birthday and on the day that she left us.

My grandfather

My grandfather had suffered from cancer but was doing well. On the day he died, his car was found empty a kilometre away from his house but his body was found on his bed. No wallet was found. So many possible answers but no conclusions. The police defined it as a natural cause of death, kidney failure or something like that. My grandmother had found him. I was still in England then and my mother did not tell me about it till I returned for my next holiday, 2 months later. This happened only months after Sam had died.

My uncle

He was crippled from an accident falling off a cliff. He used to be an adventure camp instructor and a sharp rock had punctured his back at the spinal chord. He was paralysed instantly. He would take me for ballet classes when I was a kid, whenever my parents were too busy. He was wheelchair bound and was doing really well too, being really independent, able to care for himself. He was also found on his bed with a curtain string around his neck. This happened a month before my grandfather died.

That year, I sunk into a depression because I felt that everyone around me was dying.
