20 things over 20 days

I wrote this very long post of 20 things but it was so long that I’ve decided to split it over the next 20 days now…..so do check back over the next 20 days to see what verbal diarrhea of 20 different topics I can spew in record time of 20 minutes 🙂

Thing Number One:

Our helper has her own handphone after being 7 weeks with us. SEVEN WEEKS. Not years…..not months……WEEKS!!! That is 49 days, if you still aren’t clear. She claims her cousin (whom she met during her off day at the agent’s house) gave it to her. On her 1st off day (3 weeks into the job), she asks for a handphone. On her 2nd off day (7 weeks into the job), she already has a handphone despite me saying no, despite me buying her a phone card (which I didn’t even make her pay for) to call home from my house phone. She claims her 12 year old daughter has a handphone and sleeps late and her daughter told her that her husband has a girlfriend in Manila. And so the need for a handphone is to keep in touch with her daughters. So they can sms each other.

She never wants to follow us out whenever I ask her if she wants to, so one day, I shall tell her that she HAS to come out with us (no choice!) though I’ll do that when I really need her. She is forgetful but I’ve accepted that hired help are people who are there to perform tasks with given instructions. They are not there to use their brains to remember things.

I give up. Whatever. I’ll just take each day as it comes and pray that all goes well.

This is her – what do you think? Can she be trusted? Does she have a trustable face? Is she going to drive me nuts?

  1. Wow..I’d be stumped. I mean, we’re not warlords or dictators, a be-it and be-all kinda thingy.

I guess, if she’s responsible with the phone, and does her job well, then..what else can you do?

    If I were a maid..I’d need me a iPhone. 😉

  2. haha…my maid has a phone too..i decided to just not argue with her over it…it’s just a waste of my time and energy cos i know they’ll still find some other ways to pi**ed me off anyway…

and yea…haha..she does have quite an untrustable face..and i think she’s got a potential to drive u nuts..

sigh…maids..u dunno whether they’re a blessing or an omen in disguise

  3. consult a medium, they can tell what we can’t from photos. I would hv been firm. No means no !
later you’ll hear more stories abt her husband’s affairs, family problems etc, then comes the money issues, asking for advances to send home, etc. Keep yourself out of it, don’t bother to hear her out. ‘farn sei lei’ ler..

  4. all my myanmar maids had phones. But this latest one, no phone yet. I communicated with her church pastor that if anyone wanted to reach her to contact the church pastor, and the pastor to contact me. So far so good. its been 1.5 months

Well….dont give ur maid any money for top-up. Let her find her ways n u sound the agent out

  5. u have a maid and she can choose not to go out with u all ka?

despite u saying cannot and no, she still did it means she no look u high high. I’ll be worried if she is my maid.

  6. I’m done with 2 maids; for now, “NO MORE MAIDS”!

From my experience – treat them well, they’ll climb over my head. Treat them strictly, they’ll do things to defy me(behind my back).

So now, I’m going to stereotype them (without even looking at their faces!) – “CANNOT BE TRUSTED”! *paranoid*

  7. yea, she look “hao” to me.

Maid don’t like to follow us out, because they can do their own things when we are not at home. When i got my own maid, i always bring her out, instead of putting her at home shake leg, but bring her out also another headache, always make me pissed!!! :(:(
