And I mean it in every sense of the word, whether you are materially richer or however you want to define rich. I could be a pauper but I could still have a richer life than you. I just wondered……

I’ve noticed that there are so many insecure people and then, there are so many ungrateful people. Both these traits become a precursor to them acting and behaving a certain way. It’s almost as though they have demons in their heads. I wish I could help them but I don’t think I’m qualified.

Ever since I was 12, I had my first hint of people being jealous of me even though I had done absolutely nothing to cause this jealousy. I was just myself. And then throughout the years, still people get jealous. Why? And now, people are already getting jealous of Tee. I think that for most of it, it is because we know how to be happy. Many people do not know how to be happy. It is a life skill that one seriously masters and I think upbringing and parents plus the environment we are exposed to at childhood has a lot to do with it.

Of course, some people are jealous because everything seems so smooth sailing for us. Everything in this world is relative and there will always be people who own more things than you or who get things easier than you; but hello…..if that is what you deem important in your life, then you have a long way to go before acquiring the skill of knowing how to be happy.

There are also a group of people who have to keep repeating to others that they are very happy. Or that they earn such and such an amount. Or they did this or that amazing thing happened to them. Whilst it is sheer joy, the act of sharing your happiness with your loved ones and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, a part of these people are in denial. There is a difference, those that are truly happy who tell you how lucky and excited they were to win that competition and those who are a bit screwed up in their heads, where you can feel their unhappy aura, see their limp body language, yet putting on their fake smile announcing that they are fine when really, they are not. I happen to know people of both types.

I’ve been very lucky that despite not having my parents around when I grew up, I had excellent mentors all my life. I cherish every single one of them, even if it was only one sentence that they had ever said to me. I remember it for life and I learn. Some people choose not to learn despite so many doors being open. I’m glad God gave me the gift to see. To see opportunities when they arise, to see the positive in every situation, to see the good in people (although sometimes this can get very difficult!). I try to impart these skills onto Tee because I know that one day, she will need them and that they will come useful as part of her inner core, to stand strong against the winds of resistance.

We have food, we have shelter, we have love. We need nothing else.
