How we spent the school holidays – Part 3

With the impending arrival of Number Two, we needed to rearrange Tee’s bedroom to accommodate more err….stuff?

We gave away Tee’s old wardrobe and traipsed down to Ikea for a new wardrobe that would fit both children’s clothes. And we all know how much clothes Tee already has!!! None of the children’s wardrobes would even fit Tee’s clothes alone thus it was inevitable that we had to get one of those modular Ikea wardrobes that you could customise and customise we did.

Furthermore, my little vain pot just HAD to have the cupboard with the mirrored doors which just happen to be more expensive than the plain doors but oh, what the heck! I convinced the Hubs that it was a girl thing and since there were going to be THREE girls in the household, it was most definitely worth it.

The Ikea guys came to deliver the very, very big wardrobe whose height measured 2.4 meters high and at one point whilst assembling it, the wardrobe fell, and I saw it falling and I SCREAMED to the Hubs to hold it up as it was falling on the ONE Ikea guy (the other two were outside the bedroom) and thank GOD, the Hubs reflexes were fast enough or we would have had a bedroom full of shattered mirrored glass. God was really looking out for us that day. Thankfully, Tee wasn’t in the bedroom that time too. Really……it was a darn close call.

What happened was that the floor wasn’t levelled so they had some problems assembling the big, big cupboard. But after they assembled it, the Hubs quickly hooked it permanently to the wall so that it wouldn’t drop again, ever.

After that, it was a matter of installing the drawers and shelves (Ikea does not do that for you!) and assembling other cupboards that Tee needed as her dressing table, bookshelf, etc etc etc. So high maintenance, right?

Her dressing table is full of her hair clips, her watches, her accessories, her hair bands, her hair brushes…..gosh, you name it. Even I don’t have a dressing table, OK?!

handyman-1

Tee helps her Daddy fix a cupboard by aligning pegs into holes. She’s a pretty good handyman, I must say.

handyman-2

Tee picks up the exact screws for Daddy upon instructions. She got them all correct.

handyman-3

At one point when I came in, Tee said, “Mom…guess what? Just now, Daddy didn’t want to read the instructions and he fixed it all wrong. And now he has to take it all apart and start all over again. He should have read the instructions first…..”

You should have seen the glare the Hubs gave her. Hee, hee…..I asked him if it was true and he completely ignored me and told me to get out.

Fine……whatever.
