Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa Bangsar

So for dinner, I suggested we try out that new Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa joint in Bangsar. I had tried the original years ago in Kampung Baru (then just a stall by the roadside) and it was good. All hungry and craving good nasi lemak and you know how bonkers a pregnant lady gets when her craves are not met!, we drove to Bangsar in search for ‘the’ thing.

Only to be disappointed. AGAIN!!!!

The nasi lemak was….nasi-lemak-antarabangsa-bangsar-kb_ ……………. doesn’t it look like two varieties of diarrhea??? Ok, I’m being really mean. I’m in a foul mood. I have eaten nothing to my satisfaction today.

Nothing to shout about and definitely not what I remembered it to be. The barley water that we ordered which costed RM4 (or RM3.95) tasted like ice water. I kid you not. We opted for no sugar and my guess is that others don’t complain because sugar water gives them a kick but when you remove the sugar, you’re really drinking ice water. RM12 fo 3 glasses of iced water. I was pissed.

We had also ordered a char kuay teow for Tee because frankly, there was nothing else on the menu that she could eat. Everything was spicy so we said, char kuay teow with ABSOLUTELY NOOOOOOOOOOOOO chillies. Not spicy AT ALL. I explained that Tee could NOT eat even pepper, so chilli is a big no-no.

And guess what happened? The char kuay teow that came was spicy. *faint*

How much more does one have to do cartwheels in order that people understand that when I mean no chilli, nothing, not even a millimeter of a drop of chilli, I really mean it?

We sent it back and again, stressed our theatrics of ABSOLUTELY NO CHILLI. What came out was still a little spicy for Tee but she had a few bites.

I also asked why the entire restaurant had no vegetables! Can you imagine? Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa Kampung Baru, so famous for nasi lemak, but did not serve vegetables short for taufu sumbat and petai.

I’m diabetic. I need some green leaves. Kangkung Belacan would have sufficed. Does’t that go with nasi lemak? So I trotted down to that Nirvana banana leaf restaurant and packed a deep fried bittergourd, chilli brinjals and some spinach back. If they had dared forbidden me to eat vegetables in their nasi lemak restaurant, they would have seen a pregnant lady scream and have their entire plot massacred.

I was severely depressed. RM120 all day and not a single decent meal. What a damn waste of money.

Tee had a wonderful suggestion to cheer me up. And herself, of course……

So we headed over to…….

……..

……..

……..

……..

to be cont’d.

  1. MamaP, where is this Nasi Lemak joint in Bangsar? Didn’t even noticed they exist. 😛

  2. Oh.. I have my share of complains on NLA too. Ikan bilis is hard like wood. Portion’s small. Rice not warm and fluffy like it should be. If you add ayam or sotong, it’ll set you back RM7 – 8 ! They should just stay at Kg Baru !

  3. oh dear… You really had a bad day where food is concerned, and that itself too is enough to depress me, because to me, life is too short to be spent on eating bad food! Urgh!

Why don’t you try the kopitiam places in Damansara Utama – Kampung Village (same row as Guardian) serves exquisite nasi lemak, and mee rebus! Open for breakfast and lunch. And Koon Kee serves the best wantan mee (in my opinion), and the Damansara Hokkien Mee just a few doors down serves yummy Shanghainese crispy-skin duck (dinner only)…

  4. went there on sunday and walked out. we went about 9 plus am and the girls wanted breakfast. They had written that they had half boiled eggs, toast etc. So after we sat and I asked for roti bakar and eggs, the waiter cam back and said, ‘semua takde’ ‘nasi lemak saja’. So we just walked off. Why are they advertising what they dont have?

  5. do you know that they serves sugar in each of the tables? you can always ask for syrup sugar. you have the right you know. about the fried kuey teow, the paste is the central-kitchen made paste, meaning ALL the outlet gonna get the same paste and it is fixed to avoid dissimilar in every outlet. so there is nothing much to do but use less paste.
