I have lived an interesting journey. One could say that I have done it all, well almost all, and this reminds me of my good friend Sam, the night we shared in Poland discussing this very fact. The only things I have not done yet is get thrown into prison although my daughter says that with my mouth, I might very well get thrown into prison one day! And I have never had an abortion ever. I am not sure why some people are shocked to know this. Just because I lived life on the edge and had a colourful life does not mean I opened my legs to foolish decisions. This is in no way a judgement to women who HAVE had abortions. Get that clear.

When I was at University being a care free wild child who really didn’t give a damn about a lot of things unimportant to me, one of my friends reinforced that I MUST care. I MUST care about everything. Gosh. That was an eye opener. She did make sense and so from that day on, I started caring.

When I talk of caring, I talk of caring about what people think of me. In the past, I was happy to be the sloth that I was and if that left me with someone having a bad impression of me, I was OK with it. Until my friend made me care. Dang!

Over the years though, I have found that it is too tiring to care about what others think, and that if anyone thought I was a bitch, well, then I am a bitch. They don’t pay my bills. They can think whatever they like. And now that I am self-made, the more I don’t care. To me, the people who align with my values will be attracted to me and those who are not, will find something to say. And I am cool with that.

It made me wonder though if any or many wealthy people are like that. You know, the fact that they have enough money to get their way in life, that perhaps they no longer need to care about what others think of them? Not caring does not mean not having any manners. Not caring simply means should they be knocked down emotionally, they still had at least the money to pull them back up.

But then I know that when I did not have money, I also did not care. Oh, what is wrong with me then??? Should I care or should I not care or how much should I care?

This is where I am headed. I do not even have to think about it. I just have to live my life as is and just be. It is not a matter of caring or not caring or anywhere in between. If we chose acceptance in everything, we would not have to care what others felt of us. Ask ourselves, why do we want so much to be liked anyway? At the end of the day, we are all creatures who are on our journey home where home is the destination when we stop caring what others thought of us. It sure looks like I had a head start, huh?

This is why when I joined Asia works when I was merely 19, I was wondering why so many people had so many hang-ups. If I’m not mistaken, it was at that exact same time I was dating my Dad’s Boss at Shell.

Oh, I just love my life!!!
