Many graduates are worried that they won’t be able to get a job in this recession seeing that many companies are retrenching rather than hiring. My advice to them would be to try looking at some jobs in the beauty industry in the meantime even if they are doctors but can’t get a job in their own field right now. I have a friend who is now Managing Director for the EL (think Liz Hurley, Gwyneth Paltrow….) Companies Asia Pacific and she started right at the bottom in Malaysia. She is now based in another country and doing very well. Sure, it’s hard work and isn’t as glamorous as one would imagine it to be but if you worked hard, the rewards are tremendous. Even in a recession, people still want to look good!
