Despite it not being a very good choice of food, sometimes we have to live a little. I am a big fan of banana fritters and the one I usually eat is from the Club (although there must be better places to eat banana fritters!).
However, when I ordered banana fritters at the Istana Hotel recently, I got banana spring rolls instead. Err….not exactly what the Doctor ordered! My excited heart that was waiting eagerly in anticipation for a crispy batter coated banana was crushed when I was presented with this oily looking spring roll with 3 sides – maple syrup, Haagen Daz chocolate ice-cream and brown sugar.
Being the fair person that I am, I decided not to judge it and to give it a chance because don’t we all deserve some chances, hey?
I ate it. It was OK. It wasn’t worth what it cost and certainly didn’t satisfy my lust for banana fritters. They really shouldn’t call it banana fritters because it is deceptive. Go on then. Google banana fritters and click on Google images. Do you see any spring rolls??? There’s nothing more annoying than expecting banana fritters but getting spring rolls. They should at least say banana fritters with a twist…..or banana fritters Istana Style or whatever, so I have a hint that I may not get what I expect. My cousin ordered it as well and he was shocked too but he wasn’t such a big fan of banana fritters and wasn’t craving for it so didn’t begrudge the banana spring roll so much :-p
