Over the last 2 weeks, I’ve had a full on time entertaining guests from Australia and having a family wedding (what more the super HUGE family that I have) meant being with many people A LOT. This should generally spell celebration with a capital C, just like how the Italians do it – with lots of wine and good cheer, and genuine LOVE.

But somehow it wasn’t. Was it just me? Or am I discerning and intuitive enough to just ‘feel’ that there were some people who just weren’t interested?

You know how different people are different with different people? I hate that. Why should that be the case? Why can’t you just define who you are and be yourself!!! Why should different people see a different side of you? It’s all bollocks to me. Hipocrisy shit.

When I highlighted this to my child psychologist friend, she said that everyone puts on a mask. I suppose it’s true that everyone wants to be polite and everyone wants someone’s approval and everyone wants to be seen as the glory God. *rolls eyeballs*

I just don’t agree with it. I say, be yourself. Be true. Not everyone will love you but I sure as hell love living life being myself than sucking up to every other person out there. Be honest, how many of you talk differently to different people? And how many of you do more for some people and less for others? Why do you do it?

I’m teaching my kids, as much as you speak with a gentle tone of voice with your Ps and Qs to Her Majesty the Queen, you do exactly the same for the Pak Cik downstairs who picks up your daily rubbish. Somehow a lot of this is missing in the Malaysian way of life. *sad*
