Day 3 & 4 – Failed already :-P

It is an official fact that I simply CANNOT stay away from bad food. Why do you think I didn’t post yesterday? This is why it’s really important for parents to inculcate good eating habits from early on because as an adult, it is very, very hard. My mother, she will call me fat yet buy me cake to make me happy. Then she says, “you don’t have to eat it!”

I was so ashamed……so ashamed that I had a Mexican salsa pancake burger and then ordered a fruit pancake stack with ice-cream and loads of whipped cream!!! Okay, okay…….I didn’t eat the pancakes and I almost stayed away from the creams and I slapped up all the fruit. Furthermore, I had a Viennese coffee today and my tongue whispered a threat to me that if I didn’t allow it a taste of that luscious whipped cream atop the coffee, it was going to tear itself away from me and it wouldn’t be pretty. I also had a JCo Donut and a quarter – DOUBLE GULP.

It’s pointless.

I am useless.

Futile efforts to stay away from my greatest passions……we need a new strategy.

I’m just going to have to CUT DOWN and not DEPRIVE myself from all my usual goodies because I find that when I deprive myself of it, the cravings become unbearably strong.

I walked 4 kilometres today. That took me 30 minutes and I burned 150 calories. I’m trying to build up to a level where I can run 5 kilometres the whole way.

Tomorrow, I shall wake up extra early to do 5 kilometres. I can’t run much yet because my knees are week. Baby steps…..

  1. we’ve only just begun…. Hmm why does this remind me of a song?….

    I think the best is to take those bad food in moderation. Even a bite is more satisfying that none at all right?

    This afternoon, we all went to McD for ice cream. The kids all had chocolate topped vanilla ice cream cone while D had vanilla sundae with the luscious extra fudge. Me? I watched them eat! Because there is a cake sitting in the fridge that I wanted to have for tea. So I chose either one, and not both. But at McD, it was a test of my willpower, what with the smell of the fries, and the sight of those 4 savouring their ice cream… it was a tough test ok!

    Then after my gym and swim, I cut the cake for tea. I had a small slice… and the urge to have another slice was very strong, but I did not want my workout to count for nothing. I suffered too much in the gruelling workout to let it count for nothing.

    Black coffee with no cream is fine, but not on an empty stomach. It actually helps to give the metabolism a boost. Since it’s dehydrating though, you need to drink lots of water after coffee. Try not to add cream lah. 🙂

    Sometimes you have to think of strategies, like you said.

    Do you like fruits? I love mangoes, and pears, and I make sure they are plenty in the fridge, so I can opt for them over fattening high calorie snacks.

    So, never say never till you’ve tried hard enough mama. I am here rooting for you!! As are the others. 🙂

  2. Oh dear. Well at least you’re trying. Really, you don’t have to cut them out completely, just eat them in moderation. I think when you just stop eating those “not-so-good-foods” that is when your body sort of goes into a bit of “withdrawal” and you tend to eat a whole lot of it when you shouldn’t. At least in my case.

    Before getting pregnant, I walked a whole lot but I also cut out the Starbucks fraps that I had on a daily basis 🙂 I couldn’t believe the calories in that thing but oh is it good.

    You’ll find a balance. Call me lazy, but one of the reasons we opted for the elliptical is that you can burn more calories in a shorter space of time. Okay so I am lazy. On the days that I didn’t walk, I would set that thing to competitive level and in about 20 minutes burn way over 350 calories(can’t remember the exact number) and an impressive amount of carbs. I have a weakness, I love pasta and bread so I had to do something because I couldn’t stop eating it.

    Keep in up. A little is better than nothing, right? I’ll be struggling once again after this girl is born only difference is now I know which exercises actually are effective with my weightloss. So I am positive by that time, you will be bragging about all the weight you’ve lost and I will be crying out of envy when I read it 🙂

  3. Cannot deprive yourself one lah. Everytime if I tell myself I CANNOT HAVE THIS OR THAT, the more I will THINK that I MUST HAVE THEM. And I have MAJOR CRAVINGS. Just eat moderately lor.

    And you know what is the other bummer about going to the gym? After working out, you somehow think you can eat the normal portion…cause worked out liow ma.. Then you see..either NO weight change or worse. Weight increased! I’m in the latter category at the moment.

    How like that??
