I cannot stress how if you need a place to de-stress and reflect, Chiangmai is a great place to do it. We always go in a big group but still, the amazingly fresh air in Chiangmai makes us well. We were very sick the few days before we left KL, yet the moment we arrived, we were well!

Standing on real hay………thank goodness, T1 had her 2 older cousins from Australia to babysit her. Even Uncle Ben had a break!

We were somewhere up in the hills of Chiangmai and suddenly, there was a convenience store (ala Kedai Runcit).

.

That sold whatever they could sell just to make a living……

.

Even PETROL!!! See the yellow stuff in that canister? It’s petrol!!!

Upon closer look……..a grotty looking joint gadget punched into a barrel of petrol.

Their bench was made out of bamboo and I was so frightened to sit on it for it might’ve broken!

There was a little resort just down below…..with ample grass to fool around in.

.

This is where the resort people lived. They cooked us our organic meal, one of the best we had in Chiangmai – fresh farm eggs used to cook 2 omellette dishes in 2 different styles (tasted SO GOOD, to DIE FOR!!!), and a few vegetable dishes (all leaves just plucked from backyard) with very, very, VERY little meat in one of the dishes. Everything tasted SO GOOD. The thing is, I’m totally not vegetarian and need my meat, or at least fish! But here, I didn’t mind being vegetarian at all because every single vegetable dish they cooked just tasted full of flavour. I could get fat(forgot the very important suffix ER) being a vegetarian there!

The kids had so much fun at the resort grounds whilst waiting for the hill tribe people to pluck their vegetables and cook. They took forever. Must’ve been strategy to work up our appetite. Mind you, the bill was very dear. The Hubs paid something like RM380 for the 8 of us?? Just for vegetables and rice!!! No drinks even. We were expecting much cheaper food in the village, but I guess they needed to earn a living too since not many people go up there.

Whilst T1 busied herself playing rough with her boy cousins, the Hubs and I enjoyed our time with T2.

T2 even took this photo of us. Well done, T2! We hardly have any couple photos as one of us is always behind the camera. Isn’t that the way things go once you have a family with young children (and no maids)?

And bless, she spotted a pretty butterfly……..but it wasn’t a yellow butterfly, so it wasn’t Sam.

My T2, she loves butterflies………and me and my yellow butterfly……..there is love.
