Things that stop me on my tracks

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I promised Tee the other day that I would stay in school all day downstairs and wait for her. “Mommy won’t go anywhere. Don’t cry. I’ll be right downstairs. I’ll be right here when you finish school at 1230”

And what did Mommy do as soon as she was out of sight? Drive herself to Bangsar Village for that much needed Starbucks coffee and opened her laptop to work. At noon, Mommy rushed to the Swiss Bakery and grabbed a butter croissant for Tee as she is usually famished after school before lunch can be served at home. Mommy arrives outside Tee’s classroom just in the nick of time, greets her, hugs her and takes her to the Book Room to get a new book, then heads off home.

In the car, Tee said in her sulky voice,

“Mommy? When I came downstairs to go to the paygound (playground), I didn’t see you downstairs.”

“Oh!! Mommy was in the toilet!!! Don’t you worry, honey. If ever you don’t see Mommy, it means Mommy is in the toilet…..but I was right there in school with you.”  *relieved at this point that I hadn’t been struck by lightning*

“Mommy? Then how did you get this croissant for me?”

O_O   *pause*

“Oh!! That was from Aunty D!! Yes, she brought it to school and gave it to me earlier so you could have it!” *quickly made mental note to inform Aunty D of incident in case she is asked or thanked*

“What about all the pwesents (presents) in that pustic (plastic) bag? Where is it fom (from)?”

*Does she not trust me???????????????*

“They are from Aunty D too. They’re presents from your friends for Christmas because we weren’t here during Christmas so Aunty D brought them over to pass them to you!”

MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT TRUST ME!!!

Thank goodness she didn’t touch the car and ask, why is the car hot then if you didn’t go anywhere. Phew!
