After 8 years of home confinement (read: Stay-At-Home-Mom), I cannot tell you how liberated I feel now that I have work. It’s great to have a sense of purpose (despite the fact that the Hubs kept reminding me that my sense of purpose was to RAISE MY CHILDREN!!) and feel useful again. Yes, I was very useful with my kids thus far. Whether I felt it was my calling or not is something else altogether! I was completely passionate the first time being a first time mother and everything but in its second round, T2 is gaining a whole set of different parenting approaches!

It’s great to be able to talk and think with adults. Seriously. With kids, you have to be creative and quick. The brain power IS needed but more often than not, it is to get the kid to do something they do not want to do. Thus whilst the self achievement is felt, it isn’t recognised. But when you’re in the work force, you deal with people. You have to be sharp, fast and know when and how to win. You’re a walking sales product.

With this new journey, I’ve started being able to dress up, go out at night and seriously have a spanking great time. I’ve never laughed so much for the last 10 years. Sure, the kids make me laugh lots. it’s just different. There is the innocence of children laughs and there is the adult laughs. I guess I have been deprived of the latter…….
