The love for my child

It has been 7 days since the Hubs went abroad for work and I have been alone with T. It is the longest that I’ve ever been alone with T. We have been painting the town red, just the two of us, and having a blastedly superb time. No doubt we both miss the Hubs tremendously….she cries for him every morning and night, she sobs when she thinks of him, I miss him doing the dishes, I miss my regular massages, you get the picture.

But T and I. We’re joined at the hip, literally. We are so attached to each other, we are like best buddies. We know each other well. Despite my yelling at her (which I am trying hard to curb) when she gets uncontrollable, she still comes back to me. Whenever I scold her for something she has done, she will say, “I’m sorry, Mummy.”

Then 5 minutes later when I pick her up to tell her she’s forgiven, she’d always always turn my head towards her with her little hand guiding my chin and would look deep into my eyes to ask, “Are you happy, Mummy? Are you happy?”

In fact, sometimes out of the blue, she would ask me that, “Are you happy, Mummy?”

Which makes me wonder sometimes if I have done anything to make her feel that I am less than happy. Or is she just genuinely concerned about my well being and wants to see me happy? Whatever the case, my reply is always, “Mummy is VERY happy. Mummy is VERY happy because Mummy has T!” And we hug and kiss and hug and kiss and laugh, laugh, laugh.

There is nothing in this world that makes me happier than being with my very mature 26 month old daughter. She is my gleaming pride, my solid inspiration, my medicine for laughter, my teacher of patience, my challenge for creativity and so much more.

Children really are from Heaven.

Thank you, God. For allowing me the opportunity to love this one. For I love her with my life. I protect her with my senses, and I teach her with my heart.

Thank you, from the deepest depths of my heart.
