First meal in Kota Bharu

I can’t believe how time flies! By this weekend, we’ll already be back in KL again. Back to the grind. Bah.

I’m really taking full advantage of my babysitters and maids here in Kota Bharu! Not to mention, I’m also working my ass off. Are you kidding? I’m working but I’ve decided not to kill myself, after all my ‘boss’ has given me permission not to work SO hard. Thank you, Mr Boss. I will start working again when in KL, when the big routine begins.

As soon as we hit my in-laws house, we were greeted with Ama’s famous apple pie, the one T1 loves so much until she cried that she had no more Ama’s apple pie when we returned home from our last trip. Who in the world cries over food?! I don’t know. As much as I love chocolate and coffee, I don’t think I’d actually cry over missing my faves. I might cry over a lost diamond ring…….or the fact that I saw a photograph of my behind taken by T1 recently and I couldn’t tell it was me because it looked like a bouncy castle. Yup, definitely crying right now……

Ama’s Famous Apple Pie – baked with granny apples and corn flakes and a wonderful pastry. YUM.

.

Kuih Bakul? Neen Kow? That gluey, sticky, sweet stuff? I LOVE IT. What more, with absolute FRESH dessicated coconut…….it was Heaven. Sweet, sweet Heaven……

.

T1 pounced on these melting moments that Ama baked but I must say my grandma makes it better. And the reason for this is that Ama does not like the taste of butter, thus she adds a lot LESS butter into these. Shame! They don’t melt in your mouth when there isn’t enough butter.

.

These are T1’s favourite cornflake cookies. They taste just like Frosties – cornflakes and sugar. No wonder.

.

And THIS is my little baby T2 who was just told that she could not have any of the cookies until she had her proper lunch. What’s with the sexy look? Heck, those Mothercare rompers? They just don’t make them so good anymore. It must be the Made in China fabric. Do you have the same problem? All her Mothercare rompers are giving her the sexy look. No, little baby, no. Your low cut days only begin when you’re 35………not 1.5 years old.

We had a simple lunch when we arrived.

Tow Kuah? I don’t know what this is called but it tasted damn good. It’s tofu mixed with prawns deep fried, I’m guessing.

.

Watercress soup with radish and chicken

.

Sambal pomfret baked in banana leaf

.

Sar Po (carp) Fish cooked with Chinese mushrooms, ginger, vegetables.

.

And this is my little baby T2 after she was promised that she could have not only the cookies after lunch but CHOCOLATE. Oh my God. That low cut romper is really an eye sore, isn’t it? She doesn’t even have tits!
