Entertaining kids at the LCCT airport

In attempt to keep current with our daily going ons, here is live feed from Kota Bharu on Kota Bharu! Well, not exactly. Let’s start with our journey to Kota Bharu starting from home and the LCCT airport.

The girls were all excited and ready with their own respective knapsacks. T2 didn’t have one initially but after seeing everyone carrying one, she insisted on bringing one for herself. We had some drama over this. The Hubs said no, we didn’t need extra things to carry as she isn’t going to carry it all the way, and I said YES. Did T2 get her knapsack in the end? You bet.

.

The journey was wet and we wondered if we could actually take off. T2 was very restless in the taxi and so I was stressed because we did not have a car seat.

.

We make T1 carry her own knapsack of junk every time we travel now. She’s big enough. In it, she has her jacket and any other entertainment she wants to bring along for the journey.

.

Check-in was pretty smooth. Air Asia instructed that all Kota Bharu flights were to be checked in through the kiosk booths but then passengers with children were not allowed to check-in at the kiosks. Go figure. And they don’t tell you this. You have to find this out for yourself and THEN, you have to ask more to find out where exactly you can check in with kids.

See? Not too much stuff for a family of four. Only because we have clothes in Kota Bharu, haha….

.

Before that, we had some food at the Ipoh Kopitiam at the LCCT Airport. T2, as usual, did the menu ordering. And of course, screwed up our orders!

.

So we let her play with some cards instead. She is very familiar with her alphabet cards.

.

T1 also wanted to play so I brought only their names out as I didn’t want stacks of card dropping on the dirty LCCT floor. I got these cards from a big alphabet cardboard poster (in case you were wondering) and cut them all up so we could carry them around for some fun word games. T1 invented her own game of mixing up the cards and finding her own name right side up.

.

Then she wanted to invent words from the cards. She wanted me to give her more cards for more alphabet options but I said no and just gave her T2’s cards instead and told her that with limited resources comes a bigger challenge so she had no choice but to make words from ASSETAIT. How many words can you make???

.

Her first word was TEST. And then she made another 15 words or so..

.

Baby had brought 2 Maisy books in her little knapsack.

.

After getting bored with making words (giving up), T1 decided to revise her Chinese zodiac animals, which I still haven’t learned by the way.

.

We had our boost juice (yes, the LCCT now has Boost Juice!!!), one each for all of us, including baby!

.

And finally attempted to board the plane. We were slightly late arriving at the boarding hall so there was already a mighty long queue waiting to get past the boarding gate. So instead of standing and waiting, we decided to sit and wait till they all got out. But no difference that made! Because by the time we’d gotten to the plane, there was another queue.

.

To make matters worse, it was raining and another plane had just landed beside us so although the Air Asia landing crew had these thick ear muffs to protect their fragile ears, ours were just left to explode. Thank you, Air Asia. I know it isn’t your fault but please get a hand in designing the next airport and its ancillary facilities the next round.

.

Poor T1 had to carry her own umbrella as we would certainly both have gotten wet had we shared one. To make things damn exciting, there was no Air Asia staff at the plane to take the umbrellas from us or even to just help us with them. Try closing an umbrella with one hand whilst stuck in the rain? Try closing an umbrella when the umbrella is bigger sized than you? C’mon Air Asia, is it so hard to get one of your pretty lasses on top of the stairs to come down to get her high heels a bit wet, so passengers can get a little convenience? Oh, I forgot. This is LOW BUDGET AIRLINE………

I didn’t check later to see if anyone had just flung their umbrella onto the rack without closing it as I was already busy taking care of bags and kids, but it wouldn’t have surprised me one bit.

  1. Where IS the LCCT airport? One of my friends recorded the luggage handler..err handling the luggages onto the conveyer belt. He literally THREW the bags onto the belt so my friend started recording this. Unfortunately this is a common practice at most airports. But he was cursing AAsia, for continuously delaying his flights without notice. At one flight, the entire plane was delayed by one hour because THEY CHECKED ONE EXTRA PERSON IN. I look forward to travelling via Air Asia when we’re in M’sia!

  2. T2 is super cute and has oh-so-grown up sooooo much!!! Can’t wait to see her again. Oops sorry, my eyes were only on her and I wasn’t really interested in reading the rest of this post haha
