1st week at school

Guess what happened on T1’s 1st week at school? Someone did a poo-poo in their pants. No, it wasn’t my girl, but bless the poor child who did……………..

poopoo

I’m very proud of my girl that she has learned how to be tactful (most of the time!) so when someone had a poo-poo accident, she didn’t think to tease nor taunt the poor child. Whenever she thinks someone is being unhygienic, for example, (although she herself can be sometimes!), she wouldn’t point it out brazenly. This all came from continuous and ongoing lessons of hurting other people’s feelings.

Have you taught your child how not to hurt other people’s feelings? Do you think it is necessary? At what age do you think children should be taught not to hurt other people’s feelings?

Whilst teaching them this lesson may stifle their natural innocence of calling someone a fat hippo or booger man, it eventually has to be done. Our kids are going to be thrown into the real world one day and we cannot be around forever to protect them. Thus the best thing to do would be to equip them with survival tools for being a worthy, worldly citizen. Capiche?

  1. yes! as young as when gooly could string up words, i have introduced 4 BIG NO words – fat, smelly, stupid and ugly. Ok to use them to describe things, but not people. Even now he euphamises negative comments like, “It’s not very nice..” with regards to the fugly dress I was wearing.

  2. I try to. Believe me but it’s hard when I have a daughter with a mouth like a runaway train. LOL. Technically, she does not say rude words or call people names but that does not mean she wouldn’t say something embarassing. PLUS She’s ALWAYS LOUD!

  3. uhm… yeah, I have not been doing a good job in that area, in fact, in a lot of areas. i lecture my kids lots of times, but they just don’t remember. i think it’s their father’s fault!
