Home made chocolate cookies
Saturday, November 15th, 2008Another boring day…..so I got out the old chocolates from the fridge that we hadn’t eaten and told Tee to cook them. You should have seen her eyes turn on. You know? Like a light switch. On-off-on-off. Bored, off. Cook chocolate, On!
We also melted some marshmallows but I wouldn’t recommend you try that. Very, very […]
Plucking the tails off bean sprouts (taugeh)
Thursday, November 13th, 2008I love bean sprouts and am now wondering if Westerners ever pluck the tails off bean sprouts??? I know most restaurants here don’t do it but we always do it at home. After Tee’s princess party, she was brought back into the real world to do some real work. Your pumpkin’s exploded, honey. Back to […]
My fabulous dinner at Lafite, Shangri La Kuala Lumpur
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008This dinner was not paid by me but ahhhh……how I wish somebody would pay for me to eat good food everyday!! Mind you, Bakuteh at the roadside is good food too…..
This was my starter. Scallops and pasta. I can’t remember the fancy schmancy names of the dishes but I’ll tell you what I know. […]
A meal made from love….
Sunday, September 7th, 2008That’s what my mother does as she knows no other way, apart from dishing out dosh. Many mothers show their love through cooking. It is quite amazing that I have learnt to show love in other ways. It proves that just because you didn’t get it doesn’t mean you cannot give it. It means that […]
Liquid Nitrogen and Frozen Avocado Beads
Saturday, August 30th, 2008What happens when you have minus 196 degrees Celsius of liquid Nitrogen smoking in a pot? You do NOT touch it. If you do, you can start filling up the form to join the Fingerless Anonymous Society.
What happens when you squirt little droplets of mashed avocado through a plastic bottle into the liquid Nitrogen? Your […]
What Tee had for lunch today
Friday, August 22nd, 2008Haha….I needed a filler post and I needed it fast so this is it. Tee had macaroni with home-cooked chicken stock, potatoes, radish, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped coriander, ham and onions. Oh, and topped with grated cheddar cheese. She walloped it kau-kau!! What did Mommy have? 3 chocolate cubes. *gulp*

The best roast chicken I’ve ever had
Monday, October 15th, 2007I’ve had many, many roast chickens in all my life but I must say that after 35 years, I’ve finally tasted the best. Ever. Today. My mother’s roast chicken is pretty good too but since she is Muslim, her cooking loses out sometimes for the lack of oinks.
The Hubs and Tee cooked me the best roast […]
Tee’s green party at school
Friday, October 5th, 2007Tee and her partners in crime revised the colour green this week and did everything green. They cut up leaves, painted trees, messed with green clay, ate green food (spinach quiche, green grapes, green agar-agar, cucumbers etc) and sang ‘green’ songs. Today, they were all dressed in green and I could have sworn it was […]
The little patisserie chef at my home
Friday, October 5th, 2007Whilst playing with her new PlayDoh set today, Tee served me a little plate of bright pink dollops that resembled mini Hershey kisses. I have no clue how she got it into that shape. Wait….let me ask my Mom’s maid.
Oh…..she used a toy scissors. Hmm…..gotta try it myself later.
“This is Hershey chocolate for you, Mummy.”
I […]

Helping Mummy marinate a fish……
“I can feel the scales! I dug into the fish’s mouth and opened it’s gills. I poked the fish’s eyes and stroked it’s tail…….”
Plucking vegetables…..
Peeling garlic……

Carving Yellow Watermelon Balls
Sunday, July 29th, 2007When Tee was learning the colour yellow at school, they did yellow activities ALL WEEK. Anything to do with the colour yellow, they did it. Even in Mandarin. At the end of the week, they had a yellow party in which Tee had to bring in yellow food. So I got her to prepare her […]
Killer Tomato Salsa for 2
Sunday, July 22nd, 20073 ripe tomatoes (chopped)
3 pips garlic (minced)
3 small onions (chopped)
3 twigs coriander (minced)
3 chilli padis or jalapenos (minced)
3 pinches of salt
Cook tomatoes alone in a saucepan for a few minutes (only because cooked tomatoes offer more nutrients than uncooked tomatoes - did you know that? Even ketchup benefits you more than raw tomatoes, apparently). Then add all […]
What’s your family food plan?
Wednesday, July 11th, 2007I’m nosey. I can’t help it. Born like that. Just like how I’m impatient, lazy and boring…..and err….so many other things.
Today, I read this, so I thought I’d share what we had on our carefully planned out menu this week. Considering I am on a low-carb ’so called diet’, we’ve been avoiding the good Chinese […]
Assistant Chef of The Lee Household
Friday, July 6th, 2007My mother has always stressed how important it is for a woman to take care of her man. Whilst I’m not sure I subscribe to this theory, I have obeyed her somewhat by exposing Tee to the kitchen and its functions. Due to countless baking adventures, Tee knows the ingredients to bake cakes by heart. She […]
