Best Trainer in KL

The best trainer in KL, I’ve got him – Nic Brandon (016 9710647). I’ve had several trainers in the past and I have a few friends as trainers and I must say this guy who trains some of the upper echelons in society (not that it matters but sadly more often than not it is the noveau riche who want can better to afford him, only because the rest do not yet understand his true value) is THE best trainer I have ever met.

Why?

Firstly, the best trainer in KL spends 2 hours daily studying about the body. I love people who continuously upgrade and keep technology in sight. I am learning so much from him that I’m thinking heck, this is the cheapest degree I’ll ever have to pay for and I not only get the theory behind the Science but get to practise the Practical as well.

He is a Master Trainer. What does that mean? He trains the trainers and has 13 years of experience in physical fitness and biometrics. He is qualified in nutrition and food science. His focus is not for you to lose weight or gain weight or build muscle etc but really, to prolong a better, healthier lifestyle. Without being a product pusher of any particular brand, he would advise that salmon Omega Oils will help soften my body cells and aid in better absorption of nutrients and prohibits lipids swimming in your blood stream etc. He will tell me to take protein after a workout not carbs because my body has just gone into protein XXXXXX – crap, obviously my memory is lousy so I cannot regurgitate the exact explanation, but I heed his advice and eat protein after my workouts instead of a huge pasta.

The best trainer in KL has a customised programme for every individual (yeah, yeah…..isn’t that what they all say?) whether you are a kid or 80 years old but he REALLY has a customised programme. He makes an assessment of your body, checks you all round properly identifying your weaknesses and strengths before recommending a strategy. It’s different from anything I’ve ever done, even at the gyms.

He focuses first on recovery. For example, since we all drive and use our right leg more often, it goes through more strain and wear and tear, thus has more scar tissues. For an entire month, I have been working on recovery moves to repair my weak areas. In a month, I am SO much stronger (I have never been this strong, really!) and I have SO much more balance and endurance. I can hold a plank for more than 70 seconds and I can run up my condo stairs from B2 to the 2nd floor (4 floors) and beat the lift. I can do 5km in 30 minutes. This is just from one month. How is that possible? And you would think that I have been training like a mad dog, right? WRONG.

Funnily enough, I haven’t. After every single session, I have not been in any pain. Ever. No sore muscles, nothing. He has been cranking up the pace very slowly, so slowly that I do not feel it. Yet I sweat like a pig but everything seems moderate. The difference from his work from other trainers is that a lot of the exercises I do are mild BUT they are done in balance, meaning I have to lift weights whilst balancing on one leg, for example. So I’m always wobbly…..

Perhaps that burns faster but not according to the calorie counter. My last trainer used to work me like a dog until I couldn’t move. He really pushed me and I would be screaming and pleading but it felt haphazard. It felt like something you could pull out of the internet and follow.

I keep telling my trainer, the best trainer in KL, that he is worth his weight in gold. If only people could trial him for a few sessions and get to know the database in his head (he’s been able to answer every single question I have asked, and fuck, you know how anal and detailed I can get) and learn his true value. I can understand because until I signed him up, I didn’t even think he was that special. But he is. He really is.

I look forward to my continuous journey with him and soon, the Hubs will start too. It’s not just about getting fit and having a great body. It’s also about sharpening your proprioceptors et al so that you are sharp as hell in your old age. It’s a bloody good investment.

One fall as a weak old lady and I’m fucked for time, hassle and money. My life has so much treasures yet to be discovered, I want to be in my prime state for a long time yet to come. And the Hubs too and soon, my girls. We want a super fit family who can fight thugs and live long-long. So much out there to see and do, yo!

Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett BSc in Architecture.
