Mamapumpkin???

Once upon a time, she designed buildings and interiors of corporate offices and on the rare occasion, homes. Now, she cleans poop and is student of a patience management course. From the drawing board as a London Architect to the realities of Motherhood, she has certainly learned many lessons in humility. And then others.....

To succeed in the corporate world, first succeed with your kid as the happy boss. Seriously.

This blog is about Mamapumpkin: A crazy, demented Mom who cares full time, alone, without any help, for an even crazier preschooler AND a baby with a boob addiction problem.

She writes anything that comes out of her head, mostly without thinking first, which almost always gets her into trouble (according to her husband, whom she considers the love of her life.......on a good day).

Her 2 pet monkeys drive her towards challenge after challenge, 24/7. Day after Day.....and by the way, her parents are Muslim, her in-laws Buddhist, she's Catholic and her Hubs, an Atheist. She's thinking her kids should be Hindu, just to complete the rainbow religion cycle.

Gotta love it.

She'd love to hear from you : Mamapumpkin at gmail dot com

7 month old baby bronchitis

This is the 2nd time T2 has been ill being an exclusively breastfed baby. Tee started with formula and was exclusively breastfed for maybe 3 months and was way healthier than T2 ever was. Anyway…..T2 is much better now. We’re both still coughing lots with lots of phlegm but at least, we’re not dying ill like before. However, Tee and the Hubs have started a dry cough. Let’s hope they are strong enough to fight it as Tee’s 1st semester exam starts this week. Hahaha….5 years old with an exam. Totally funny.

If your baby has a wet cough, take her to the Doctor immediately to get her treated as she would be at risk of developing pneumonia. I did not know this. But in babies, bronchitis can easily develop into pneumonia.

In terms of T2 putting on weight, I’m finally at ease now. The pediatrician checked her inside out thoroughly, put her on her tummy, watched how she grasped objects and transferred them from left to right and right to left, put her on sitting position and watch her balance herself with her hands, then fall over like Humpty Dumpty (he said no problem as this usually happens between 8-10 months though Tee sat at 5 months), watched how she picked up raisins, watched how quickly she rotated her head to noise, watched how she chuckled at funny faces, watched her eyes and said she was a bright, active child and had no symptoms of being spastic or retarded or…..he named some other disability names but I can’t remember them. So PHEW!!! She’s just a small, active baby.

The Doctor did say that although T2 was 7 months old, developmentally she should only be 5 months and 3 weeks as she was born 5 weeks early. So take note. If your baby is X number of weeks early from her due date, developmentally, you need to look at their age from that perspective.

I worried like hell for nothing. But thank GOD!

T2 can now hold her own sippy cup and drink from it. She has started doing sausage rolls in bed (very dangerous) as we will hear a thud one day. Followed by a loud wail. She now loves being on her tummy more than on her back and can communicate very well. She certainly has no qualms speaking her mind about things! In fact, at the risk of making an understatement, she is even bossier than Tee. Die-die-die…..why do I have 2 bossy girls??!! How can I un-bossy them???

She loves her sister the most as Tee plays all kinds of funny games with her. I am only her boob pacifier and Daddy is another favourite as he spoils her rotten. Whatever T2 wants, she gets with Daddy. In fact, her eyes light up every night when he comes home from work(if she is still awake) and she ‘talks’ to him, making him carry her and take her for walks. He is such a sucker.

One of T2′s greatest weakness, is that she sleeps very little. Only a total of 11 hours per day inclusive of naps. She has in all her waking hour, 1 or 2 naps of half an hour each. She sleeps at night about 10-11pm and wakes at 8-9am (with 2 quick feeds in between). However, now that she’s on meds, last night she slept at 730pm and woke only at 1030am this morning!!! I know I’d be dreaming to even hope that this pattern would continue but having said that, she did wake every 2-3 hours looking for the boob!!

Everyone says what a good baby she is and yes, she is generally much calmer than Tee ever was. Taking meds for example, has been a breeze with T2. We just need to put the syringe in her mouth(she will even open it for you) and poke in 0.5ml at a time and she’ll swallow it without any fuss. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??? With Tee, even with THREE adults holding her down, we were unsuccessful in giving her meds and it would be a one hour saga at minimum. Those of you who grew up with Tee on this blog will know how she always had a knack of getting ill just before a holiday and know how she really tortured us with medicine taking. Tee, oh my dearest Tee…..

T2 has this habit of crossing her legs most times. It’s cute. Her little feet are always crossed. But when she drinks her milk, she will open up her legs and shake one leg by holding that feet with her hand. Goyang-goyang up and down, bent and straight…..like a big taukeh who’s really enjoying her milk. The way I enjoy good chocolate.

T2 is currently on 3 meals a day although she hardly eats much for lunch. She has a fruit cereal for breakfast and usually porridge for lunch and dinner. But seeing that she hardly eats lunch, I might change her lunch into a yoghurt or something lighter. She loves her porridge though finishing up to 200ml portions at any one time. And of course, she loves her cereal too, so I guess she just loves food in general. Like me.

She has the cheekiest grin to melt hearts and boy, she really does know how to get her way! Even Tee wasn’t so manipulative. We really have two devils who are disguised as angels!
