Mamapumpkin???

Once upon a time, she designed buildings and interiors of corporate offices and on the rare occasion, homes. Now, she cleans poop and is student of a patience management course. From the drawing board as a London Architect to the realities of Motherhood, she has certainly learned many lessons in humility. And then others.....

To succeed in the corporate world, first succeed with your kid as the happy boss. Seriously.

This blog is about Mamapumpkin: A crazy, demented Mom who cares full time, alone, without any help, for an even crazier preschooler AND a baby with a boob addiction problem.

She writes anything that comes out of her head, mostly without thinking first, which almost always gets her into trouble (according to her husband, whom she considers the love of her life.......on a good day).

Her 2 pet monkeys drive her towards challenge after challenge, 24/7. Day after Day.....and by the way, her parents are Muslim, her in-laws Buddhist, she's Catholic and her Hubs, an Atheist. She's thinking her kids should be Hindu, just to complete the rainbow religion cycle.

Gotta love it.

She'd love to hear from you : Mamapumpkin at gmail dot com

The makings of a crook

politician

At the supermarket today, Tee asked me if she could buy Nutella for bread. Since we hadn’t used it for awhile, I said OK. We have been trying to stay away from Nutella and Goober Grape as Tee LOVES them for their sweetness and not only that, they’re freaking expensive!

Down the jam aisle I trotted with her in search for Nutella, grabbed a medium sized jar and dumped it into the trolley. Just then, the Hubs appeared and asked me in Malay, “Kenapa you beli itu?” (why are you uying that?)

I whispered, “Nevermind la….we haven’t bought it in awhile. And she asked me if she could have it and I said yes.”

Then he replied in Malay again, “Dia tadi baru tanya saya. Saya cakap takda!” (She just asked me for it just now and I said there wasn’t any!)

“Oh….Hahaha…..” I managed. What else was I to say? He should have told me earlier!

And so he walked off with T2 in search of other grocery items.

After which Tee secretly told me, “Mommy, you know I asked Daddy for Nutella and he said they don’t make them anymore. He couldn’t find them and he said Germany doesn’t send them to Malaysia anymore. But my friend in school, Alisha, she brings Nutella bread. And she said her Mommy bought it from Bangsar Village. Daddy is bluffing me, I know.” And then she gave me this big grin.

Now, you tell me. Was that sneaky of her? How did she even know we were talking about the Nutella jar since he was speaking in Malay and she couldn’t have heard anything I’d said. Hrrmmppphh……why do I feel that I’m the one who’s been duped?

Many times, when I spoke of my girl with my hubby, esp the naughty cheeky stuff she did, I tried using Mandarin, and several times, I had been ‘snubbed’ by her……in English! The same thing happened when I spoke in Cantonese or Hokkien to my relatives….thinking she didn’t understand….huh….. our jaws just dropped when she replied to our conversation in English…….

We can’t converse in word, we need to spell the word like “T I A D A” when we need to discuss something in front of the kids.
